This is practically entrapment. All the AI labs sure don’t shy from plastering annoying disclaimers everywhere saying their tool can make mistakes. Shame on them for not also reminding everyone continually that anything you submit can and will be used against you. Of course they can’t afford to have a Flock-style user revolt.
It seems like Anthropic is constantly changing the rules and pulling out rugs, and always entirely by surprise. I’m not sure if they’re incompetent or just careless, but I stopped paying them because of this a while ago, and my days are much more interesting and enjoyable using my own brain instead.

What a product name choice! I wasn’t expecting ARM to pivot to selling snake oil.

Enshittification strikes again. For a normal user, the software seems to be getting worse and more cumbersome, and the company seems to continue focusing solely on pushing business- and enterprise-centric features that I have no use for. They'd do well to offer a non-pro type subscription for users who don't want all of that. Instead, though, I and a lot of others will simply be canceling.
I wonder how long before this gets defunded too?
AirPods also drop audio quality severely when their mic is active, just as with Bluetooth. Apple hasn’t solved that in any way with some nefarious extension.
They still need to spend at least as much on fixing their continual quality and software problems.
Being able to communicate clearly with high signal-to-noise is essential. When hiring, I’ve learned it’s often better to take a great communicator with less experience over a poor communicator with great experience.

Cover letters can be a helpful filter for this. In my experience a pithy cover letter is better than no cover letter. But no cover letter is better than a bull shit one.

You can bet that if I smell diarrhea of the chatgpt in a cover letter, it’ll get a fast pass to the bottom of the heap if not a direct route to the reject pile.

Meanwhile Peter Thiel is off plotting his next gambit to fleece and destroy this country.
Irrelevant, and fountain drinks are only $1 at McDonald’s anyway.

Hopefully it never comes back up!

Google sucks nowadays. So much of what it does just makes technology and the web worse, not better.
Re:Neuralink Live Stream [video] on Wednesday July 17, 2019 @09:24AM (#20459147)
I'm glad this tech is starting to move along, but, boy, is this stuff at a crude and barbaric level. I can't imagine putting this crap in my head.
Re:Apple Cancels AirPower Product on Friday March 29, 2019 @03:38PM (#19524868)
Are there any official announcements about this? It seems odd for Apple’s leadership team to make statements about unreleased products to reporters like that without any other context.

This is great. I was just lamenting the lack of a nice tool like this, and I’m looking forward to seeing this develop.
Ah, the imminent decline of Spotify. I’ve been wondering what was taking so long to get that going.
Re:What If Amazon.com Actually Is a Horrible Website? on Thursday November 22, 2018 @10:33PM (#18514164)
There’s no “what if” about it. Amazon.com’s UX has always been chock full of dark design patterns and incongruous UI choices. The same is true to varying degrees for many of their platforms and products. It’s not really a huge deal, although it is one of the big reasons I don’t feel like Amazon is very trustworthy.
This is a nicely polished theme that mimics the new Chrome chrome really well, and it includes a dark mode. I didn't realize Firefox themes could look this nice, and I hope we see more designs like this as FF gains attention.
Re:New Logo and Identity for Library of Congress on Monday August 27, 2018 @09:32PM (#17855981)
This must be a joke, right? Using the word “library” twice in the new logo looks ridiculous. As do the variations where “library” is split in two.
Re:Apple Maps vs. Google Maps vs. Waze on Wednesday February 21, 2018 @01:15AM (#16427272)
This is a nice analysis, explained well. The results seem to jive with the impressions I’ve heard about these apps.

I wonder how other places compare to San Francisco, though? The variables involved with solving vehicle routes can differ a lot across locations. Probably ditto for the fitness of however each app is implemented.
