What you hear on the news, it’s not usually what actually happened.
What studies are these? Correlation != causation.
AI energy needs, will contribute to faster battery improvements than anything else.

Everything using batteries will benefit from it.

Re:Linux 7.3 Released on Monday October 19, 2026 @11:59AM (#50154010)
If you took the time to really analyze their codebase and judge, why don't you submit some PRs to help them improve?

It makes no sense to put them down on HN. I love using Omarchy, and like many others, I coudln't care less about what's going on under the hood. It works great for me, is OSS and I can tweak it anytime I want. Critical Bugs get caught quick too.

Any sort of alternative discovery, even though it may be inferior, is a great achievement made by AI; Meaning that better discoveries are possible too.
Re:Prompting Claude Opus 5.5 on Monday September 28, 2026 @06:35AM (#49875949)
What personal skills are you referring to?
Re:Cloudflare Quick Tunnels on Friday September 18, 2026 @01:41PM (#49757694)
AI took all the effort, so I guess nobody sees value in these little pages anymore. Not even those being paid. It's actually scary.
Re:Cloudflare Quick Tunnels on Friday September 18, 2026 @01:39PM (#49757674)
I'm sorry to be offtopic, but this website looks like an hallucination generated by chatgpt 4.

This type of quality downgrade is scary, and it's everywhere now.

The hatred and jealousy for Musk is so great in this platform, that the comment section becomes a cesspool of contempt.

They all secretly want to use X because it’s very convenient to consume news and other form of content. But they refuse to make an account because of their pettiness. So they rather use third party websites.

Making an X account would take 2 minutes. But they rather just write a hate comment on HN every opportunity they can.

Re:XCancel Taken Down Again on Monday September 14, 2026 @12:45PM (#49699870)
Why is it wrong? Is it wrong to require people to use certain tools? I don’t think so. It’s the same thing as requiring dress code to go to the tribunal or anything formal.

People here overthink so much about this topic.

Re:Claude is no longer available for minors on Friday September 11, 2026 @10:29AM (#49659077)
> Kids do all of this stuff anyways, making it illegal doesn't stop it from happening.

This so completely untrue! These things are absolutely effective for the majority of kids. Just because some stand out in a crowd, doesn't mean others are doing it too.

When trying to prevent something, the more friction you add the better.

Re:Muse: Meta's personal AI agent, features and capabilities on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @03:43PM (#49633021)
I thinks this agents are early prototypes of what will eventually become something like jarvis from iron man.

An ai that is always at your reach and can interface with everything.

I don’t use these work apps because they don’t do anything that improves my workflow or computer experience

Agree 100%. Also changing express to deno or bun would decrease resource usage and improve overall performance with very little changes to the codebase.

2000 req per minute is pretty low. This was nothing but an example of overengineering.

Re:GPT-6 Astra on Thursday September 03, 2026 @03:52PM (#49555840)
Very well said. It kinda describes how unrealistic these expectations are.

Vibe coders want a model that makes them rich, without having any actual specific idea. They write a very ambiguous prompt and expect to be amazed by the result.

Very very unrealistic and wasteful.

Re:GPT-6 Astra on Thursday September 03, 2026 @03:49PM (#49555765)
These folks are probably using crazy plugins or crazy sub agent spams. They probably just run everything on max + fast mode which is ridiculous.
Re:Our decision on Cursor following its acquisition by SpaceX on Saturday August 29, 2026 @07:46AM (#49489086)
According to Cursor CEO, it only accounts for 5% usage of cursor, so it's not a big deal at all
Re:Our decision on Cursor following its acquisition by SpaceX on Saturday August 29, 2026 @07:44AM (#49489075)
Unless you run your models and harness completely locally, you can't verify your data isn't being used.

All of these companies, and I truly mean all, stole data to train their models.

Re:Our decision on Cursor following its acquisition by SpaceX on Saturday August 29, 2026 @07:42AM (#49489065)
Yes it does. You can either subscribe to grok directly or cursor. You have many tiers and all of them have generous usage.

Grok is a workhorse, not the smartest yet, but produces good code and follows the plan. Grok 5, which has been training since beginnig of this year, will probably be a monster. (10T/6T Param model variants)

Re:GLM-5.3-Flash on Friday August 28, 2026 @05:46AM (#49476441)
Hardware constrains forced this?
Re:Nitter project received cease and desist on Wednesday August 26, 2026 @06:46AM (#49446760)
You are replying on HN with an account. Just make an account on X if there's content you want to see.

We got used to something being free and open, doesn't mean this is how it should be.

Do you actually believe this?
Re:ChatGPT Desktop (Codex Desktop) for Linux on Friday August 14, 2026 @05:18AM (#49296367)
Codex app was always unoptimized , but the competitores arent great either.

However it’s still a an agent app, it gets the job done and has great tooling.

Eventually the whole thing will probably be remade in a more performant way and be announced in a blog post as one shotted by gpt 6.x

Re:Zed: Delta on Wednesday August 12, 2026 @06:19PM (#49279366)
Yeah it just feels like the whole post is unimportant.
Re:Google Search Is Dying. What Comes Next Is Worse on Tuesday August 11, 2026 @02:53PM (#49262828)
And use AI to detect it right?
Most of his criticisms have been about the timing of certain vaccines administrations.

He's not anti vax. If nobody can challenge science, then it's not science.

Vaccines continues to help us, but that doesn't mean they are perfect and don't cause side effects on certain individuals. Hopefuly the future brings us highly personalized medicine instead of a 1 size fits all.

Re:Don't use your phone while you poop on Saturday August 08, 2026 @11:07AM (#49222555)
The bathroom is the modern day phone booth. Its the perfect place to read hacker news’s first page.
Most sane comment.

Even in the last Elon Musk interview by The Economist, he admited that it's likely China will win at the end.

The gap is so close now. Opinions matter not, the Chinese will have their own GPUs, RAM and everything they need.

Giants like google and spacex are the few that can handle it because their business is not only about shipping the best models.

Re:Writing by hand is good for your brain on Thursday July 23, 2026 @04:30PM (#49027614)
Same.

While writting I think there's a very fine line that separates external storage from memorization. What I mean by this is that sometime we write ideas so we can avoid forgetting and be able to come back them (David Lynch), or as we write and develop a thought or subject, we are actually creating memories.

I think the point of writing stuff down is mainly organization, storage and exploration and not a memory exercise.

Since when were americans the shining light of healthy populations?

This administration is making quite questionable changes, but it’s not like the last decades did anything to address obesity and vet treatment…

Nobody is forcing these soldiers to take trt, it’s just screening ffs
