You are right. And I apologized in my comment. It is simply the desperation to help the friend that's all. For me it was worth a shot for even tiny help to get closer to the goal.
I also like the hacker news community, who help not to let spamming go around. I would have asked the same question which you have if I were you.

Try MIT one, i guess that you will like. I have just started learning python ( after learning javascript ) in i find it best resource available.

Since you are concerned about revealing what you have in your mind, it would be preferable to talk to someone in you network directly. Because without any proper spec, giving direction might take to entirely other path which might not take to your goal.
