I should clarify that individual eBPF programs have to terminate, but more complex problems can be solved with multiple eBPF programs, and can be "scheduled" indefinitely using BPF timers

In this talk we demo Conway's Game of Life implemented in eBPF: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tClsqnZMN6I

You don't have to mount the host versions - you can create container-specific ones.

Re:Running Docker in production for 6 months on Friday November 11, 2016 @06:51AM (#12929822)
I'm a big Docker fan, but this is interesting to me mostly because it shows how it's hard to get started, particularly the opening few sentences about the paucity of documentation for helping you get going from scratch. There have been good guides, but they go out of date quickly! There's so much change (because it's still very much under development) that it's hard for someone coming to it fresh to figure out what's up-to-date and what isn't. For those of us working in container tech and tools this is a good lesson about making sure the entry curve isn't too steep.

Is the cut being applied across the board, or just to you as a remote worker?

How open are they being with you about the financial forecasts? Would someone in the leadership team walk you through how, if everyone takes a haircut, this is going to make the difference to whether the company succeeds or fails? If it were me, a big part of my decision would be based on how engaged the leadership team were in keeping me on board, and how they communicated their calculations.

The fact that you have no equity could (should?) be negotiable. You would be perfectly within your rights to say, look, if I take a haircut on salary because I believe in the company, I should get some options / equity to reward me for having that faith.

Of course if you don't want equity because, deep down, you're not a believer, then you may as well start looking at alternatives that will match or better your current deal.

Nice side-by-side demo at http://force12.io

Your bike sprint workouts sound similar to Tabata cycling intervals: http://britishcyclesport.com/2013/training/tabata-intervals/

Got to agree workouts like that are really hard!

Also cool about this is that you still have a timestamp column in the DB, which is just as indexable as ever
Re:A philosophy of movie recommendations on Thursday January 16, 2014 @01:00PM (#7071177)
It's really interesting the extent to which some people want to 'see the working' behind recommendations, while for others it's just clutter. I think some people want to build the mental model of what's going on, where others want it to feel like 'magic' (when it works, at least!)

I think my gut reaction against it is that people might reject a perfectly good recommendation because they didn't like the reasoning. For example, if we recommend something to Alex because Bob likes it, but Alex doesn't trust Bob's judgement, then Alex might reject the recommendation even if in practice she always enjoys the same things as Bob, she just doesn't realise it.

On the other hand, collecting feedback about whether the user agreed with the way the recommendation is made might be helpful in improving the way it works.

Definitely something to think about though.

Thanks - that's really interesting. I'd be really interested to know how many user ratings were needed for such fine-grained controls?

We'll take that on board as feedback :-)

And we'd love to list them, but they don't want to play.
