Re:Obesity And The Toxic-Sugar Wars : 13.7: Cosmos And Culture on Saturday August 24, 2013 @02:21AM (#6267861)
Recently read an article suggesting sugar should be regulated and treated as a drug- as it also has addictive properties. I feel sugar is almost more dangerous in that it can take several names and identities (i.e. fructose, splenda). The food industry then tactfully targets cheap, convenient, and often children's food products. The carton's of milk handed out in school cafeteria's are said to have the same amount of sugar as a can of soda- and that's just breakfast.
Re:Ask HN: Selling a car - Dealership vs. Private? on Friday August 23, 2013 @02:14PM (#6265291)
Do you think there is a certain market that does better in private sales (for example: cars under 10K & collector cars)?

My experience is that there is a middle range of cars where consumers would rather pay a little extra to make a trustworthy purchase from a dealership (if those two words can be used together!).

Re:I will not do a tech interview on Friday August 23, 2013 @01:08AM (#6261820)
So true! Employers are investing so much time in the preliminary recruiting, filtering, and scheduling- by the time a face-to-face interview comes around you can guarantee they are interested in you. Candidates can make their job much easier (and perhaps land the gig) simply by anticipating their questions and concerns. Come prepared, ready to prove your qualifications and all their questions just might go out the window anyway.
Re:Think Again: Why do people hate TED so much? on Thursday August 22, 2013 @01:57PM (#6258780)
The article points out that it is more the style of the organization rather than the actual content which draws critics. I would say that's a fair assessment- I don't see any harm in spreading information, it's the audience's responsibility to take it with a grain of salt.
