Re:Barcodes are about to go extinct on Sunday October 04, 2026 @07:33AM (#49952970)
Well, good luck beating world's cheapest scan technology which doesn't require a CMOS sensor.
reminds me days of coinmarketcap
Re:MCP Is Dead on Saturday May 30, 2026 @11:05AM (#48337031)
i dont think there is anything preventing devs to filter out certain items from the tools list - security is more of a issue for how you are harnessing your agent (at code-level of course)
Re:SQLite is all you need for durable workflows on Saturday May 30, 2026 @08:04AM (#48335303)
What additional skill set do you need to "learn" for SQLite? Copying files around?
Re:Project Nomad – Knowledge That Never Goes Offline on Sunday March 22, 2026 @01:27PM (#47479871)
It could use some own wisdom not to use nodejs..
Re:Don't become an engineering manager on Tuesday March 03, 2026 @08:18PM (#47241733)
Tbh, lots of EMs/VPs in wild that only behave like salespersons without the actual context. I sometimes find it hard to justify them making as much as senior engineers but could be considered as a stress-pay for those meetings..
Submitter can be an agent, and codebase could be generated, as well as the bakery/love story idea..
It can still be a LLM-induced marketing stunt to catch attention though. "Hey let's add a bakery story so people can relate to it!"
Re:Total monthly number of StackOverflow questions over time on Saturday January 03, 2026 @09:29PM (#46484203)
Or they can start claiming copyright on the training content
Re:Horses: AI progress is steady. Human equivalence is sudden on Monday December 08, 2025 @09:16PM (#46200516)
We still have chess grandmasters if you have noticed..
Re:OpenAI to buy AI startup from Jony Ive on Wednesday May 21, 2025 @11:00PM (#44058360)
I feel like they are trying let public invent the product they will work on..
Re:Docker Model Runner on Monday April 14, 2025 @01:47AM (#43678416)
I don't understand why add another domain-specific command to a container manager and go out of scope for what the tool was designed for at first place.
Re:MongoDB Announces Acquisition of Voyage AI for $220M on Monday February 24, 2025 @06:36PM (#43166243)
instagram use postgresql and still web-scale (unless this was satire)
and that writing says "we need to find investor money before the FOMO is over"
FYI, there is already a type of deployment called "sovereign cloud" where data exports are controlled by the country and already under works by major providers.
Re:Make It Yourself on Saturday November 02, 2024 @02:08AM (#42024358)
QR code per item would be helpful with the printed version probably
Re:Ask HN: Should we bring software dev in-house? on Thursday August 08, 2024 @10:24PM (#41198326)
Just pick a popular ERP solution and work with an official partner company to that ERP.
how is that different than Dropbox version history?
Re:Software engineering salaries come from one of 3 budgets on Thursday January 04, 2024 @08:59AM (#38867015)
You can also price in the effort of maintenance that needs to be done before adding of a new feature. That may explain it better from the leadership perspective.
Re:Toyota to begin steer-by-wire production in 2024 on Sunday November 05, 2023 @09:08AM (#38151237)
Can't they wire between two motors as the supporting signal? Would that reduce the error significantly?
That is accurate, however, once within the same high wind and weight, hydroplaning gets ahead. That is due hydrofoil drag effect being so much higher than a regular fin. Same reason why windsurf speed record is 55kts while the windfoil record is somewhere near 37kts today.
Re:The Hardest Scaling Issue on Saturday January 28, 2023 @12:28PM (#34559510)
That could be the title even tbh.
Re:Ask HN: Is Programming Culture Immature? on Sunday January 01, 2023 @12:33PM (#34208504)
That is another case of dunning-kruger effect for sure. A Twitter clone can be written under an hour with cost of a meal and you can feel like you are above all. Lack of enough engineers might also be the actual reason but it seems like improving past 20 years.
Re:The Best iPhone on Thursday July 28, 2022 @07:27PM (#32271294)
I am happy with my iphone8 which is equivalent of SE with a larger screen, however saddened by the fact that I always have to clean up its charging port and its square casing of the original wired headphone I prefer to use..
You are lucky getting a response, I have been ghosted by FAANG twice past 3 months. Reminders didn't work either..
I tried this feature for a public record before, unfortunately they don't consider it as PII and make it so easy for people to get everything about you. I wouldn't have concerns this data appearing on gov websites, however this kind of easy reach is bit inconvenient to be in a single search.
Re:Spreadsheets Are Hot–and Cranking Out Complex Code on Saturday April 09, 2022 @01:29PM (#30970014)
Of course you can do many stuff, except access control and server side validation. Spreadsheets rather shine with quick planning / analytics.
