Why is no one mentioning the masterpiece of the website!

Have you thought on making your markdown files publicly available for AI to read your blog posts?
I dug on the product a bit further and it seems it includes remote sandboxes? Then I understand the pricing, it makes sense.

At a first glance I understood all sessions would be created at the local machine. My niche use case having a mac mini on 24/7 at home would make this interesting. That’s why I mentioned the cheaper price.

Looks like a good product. Everyone is afraid of the grind, keep going!

Feels expensive for something that an engineer can hack in a couple of ours with tailscale and Claude Code. Has potential though. At $9 I'd be totally in, but moving from CC's Max plan at $100, adding $20 makes me wanna just hack an alternative. Maybe I'm just cheap.

Wasn't the Apple Vision pro discontinued?

Gitkraken does
Excellent and approachable book. I’ll never forget about “your title is to catch the reader, the subtitle is the real subject of the study” or something like that
I had that with old mac os versions. Fun to finally know why it happened

It is open for tourism. Is an amazing thing to see.
Also the tooling has improved a lot, making functional programming accessible to people outside of academia. A good example of this is Elixir/Phoenix. Ruby “wowed” everyone with their “Create a Blog in 15 min”. Now they did the same with “Create a real time twitter in 15 min”.

You can search the #EstonianMafia. Is Skype, Pipedrive, Wise (Transferwise), Bolt, etc...

Skype was made in Estonia
Re:What do fintech startups use on their back end? on Tuesday July 13, 2021 @07:42AM (#27819785)
Take in consideration to not use floats for money. Use a `decimal` data format. I'd also advice against using javascript since it has problems dealing with big numbers. There are libraries of course to handle that.

Just if you use JS make sure to google about how to do money calculations accurately.

Lambda is not the best option for real-time alerts since it has a cold start. but I guess it depends on the non-functional requirements he has.
How can they be competitors if they do totally different things? You can't watch TV with only a sound bar, but you can do the opposite
Re:Ask HN: Favorite Blogs by Individuals? on Thursday May 27, 2021 @09:18AM (#27302715)
Hey, I really like diff.blog. I just made an account.

A little feedback would be to add an "About page" so I can understand what is it without having to login.

And a pat on the back for not abusing Github access permissions. Felt really good to see "email (read-only)" access.

Keep the good work!

Great stuff! I'd recommend making the "Edit" button a bit more noticeable, took me a while to find it.

Also do you have planned custom domains?

Great job!

Re:Ask HN: How much do tech speakers cost? on Thursday September 17, 2020 @06:33AM (#24502954)
We have a LogiTech setup at my work and work really well. We have problems on connecting sometimes but I don't know if to blame the macbooks or the speaker itself.

Fitbit went broke, didn't it?

Don't you think is coming? Baby steps. First they'll launch and polish the trainings and sort the experience, then they add shit tons of tech there.

Think on the Nike's kinect game. Or Wii Fit, but 10 years later with a whole ecosystem behind it.

One of the most exciting services in a long time

Re:Show HN: Mimestream, a native macOS email client for Gmail on Thursday September 10, 2020 @06:03AM (#24430696)
Hey it looks amazing. I'll try it out. Did you do your landing page by yourself? Or are you using a template/service?
I think you are underestimating what the electronics on the car control. The speed, the breaks and how they behave. when you crash, the airbags, the cooling system, how the steering wheel moves, etc...

It might not be able to drive itself, but it can definitely control how fast and its direction, which would be super scary for some random dev to have any impact on.

Re:Show HN: DevFeed on Monday August 17, 2020 @07:57AM (#24186361)
Hi! Are you planning on providing an API for it? And when is your expected release?
Re:Blackstone to Acquire Ancestry.com for $4.7B on Friday August 07, 2020 @07:04AM (#24080598)
Because it's a powerful tool. You are your DNA, literally. And when a company has so many information about people, some other actor will want that information and becomes pricy.

Like instagram. Why did facebook paid 1 billion USD for a company that generated 0 revenue? For the amount of users and information they have.

And to twist a bit your question. Why is it so valuable AND sensible?

Because imagine in 10 years, you get a kid and he wants to get a job, and because you gave your DNA away to some random company, now owned by the biggest employer of your state, they do not hire him. The reason? He has 5% chance of developing a sickness which might drain the medical coverage of said employer.

We would be reduced to numbers and probabilities. Labels attached to our biology.

Do you know anything about marketing?

Maybe you can try to land a software or IT job at a marketing firm, and learn from there

The startup and VC culture has being the dominant model of a lot of companies. The difference with solid businesses and burning-money machines is that one gets funds to build, and the other builds to get funds.

The average lifespan of a startup is 3 years, so unless it's zoom and covid 2 comes in the next 3 years, your stocks won't be worth much.

I'd take the money.

Specially in an era like today with financial crisis and scandals, cash is king.

Nice landing page. I was exactly "Why would I need an API for for a Like button" until you touched the topic.

A bit pricy for my taste since what you are saying is "You'll need to hire a developer", although a developer will integrate your API.
