Re:Your Mac Keeps A Log Of Your Downloads

Files get a "quarantine flag" set on them as metadata when downloaded on OS X. Gatekeeper uses this (along with the developer signature) to check if an app is "safe" to open or not. Not sure where this sqlite database fits in, but it's very likely related to that.

Before the new connector was announced there were rumours that licensing for it would be more restrictive. Also notice how you can't license MagSafe at all.
I'm not saying Apple's decision is the right one, but IMHO it was clear there was a risk regarding licensing.

http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/ lists the following macs as supporing AirPlay
* iMac (Mid 2011 or newer)
* Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer)
* MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer)
* MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer)
I remember reading that AirPlay mirroring uses the video encoding capabilities of SandyBridge CPUs, but I can't find a source for that now.
Anecdotally, http://airparrot.com really taxes my 2010 MacBook's CPU.
Re:30 New OS X Mountain Lion Features in 2 Minutes
on Wednesday July 25, 2012 @04:43AM (#4289993)
Also keep in mind that AirPlay mirroring requires at least a Sandybridge CPU, so you need a mac released in 2011 or later.

The X11 that comes with Lion is XQuartz anyway.
All this changes is that the first time you run an application that uses X11 a dialog box pops up directing you to the XQuartz project page.

I toss all my Mac app ideas that require more than the default sandboxing rules — no matter how cool the idea is.
The sandbox has a chilling effect on at least one developer. I’d be surprised if it were just me.

This is extremely close to my vim setup. Two additional plugins I'd recommend are ack.vim (https://github.com/mileszs/ack.vim) to provide search across multiple files and ropevim (http://rope.sourceforge.net/ropevim.html) for better python completion and some refactorings. Check out rope-omni (https://github.com/rygwdn/rope-omni) for ropevim and supertab integration.
