Yes, you should underbid in the beginning, until you get a couple of jobs and good ratings.

I started a month ago, and was the hardest to get the first job. After that one, and good review from client, jobs started to come up more often.

So, keep trying, underbid in the beginning, and don't give up.

You need a guy, then you'll find time :) Seriously. You should go to parties, do crazy things, and get drunk sometimes with best friends. If you don't study, go to college. It will be the best part of your life.

Work will not run away anywhere. It will wait for you. So use your time wisely, you have only one life.

Most of the people work, so they can earn, so they can live good enough. I think that you, like many others, went off a little from that track.

Best wishes.

Great tips! Signed up already :)

People like reading about failures - Totally agree

Ask HN: Writting a book on success in real time

I have read many books on success - starting from self-improvement books, to books about starting a business, startups, etc.And there is one pattern in all of those books. The authors write how they succeeded. But, it's really rarely that any author write even a little about his failures.Authors write only about how they succeeded, but not about this how many times and in which way they failed,...

Take anything from Fyodor Dostoyevsky.
Re:Linux gets frozen, what do you do? on Thursday May 02, 2013 @06:46AM (#5643576)
Thanks for the update. For years I use this with Ctrl, never got a thought to try without.

Btw, on the wiki page I mentioned is also written that: Under graphical environments (such as GNOME or KDE) 'Alt'+'PrintScrn/SysRq'+key combination generally only leads to a screenshot being dumped. To avoid this Print Screen feature the magic SysRq combination should include the Ctrl, becoming 'Ctrl'+'Alt'+'SysRq'+key.

So I guess it depends from the environment.

Re:Ask HN: Marketing methods for startups on Saturday April 27, 2013 @06:15PM (#5619246)
Thanks. I think that's a good idea.

I also thought about writing a longer and high quality blog posts which offer a lot of value for job seekers, and then promote the blog post via Facebook Ads.

Ask HN: Marketing methods for startups

I would like to know, which marketing methods are the best for startups? For example, my small startup http://besthi.re will be ready soon. Which marketing methods I should use?Should I invest in press release distribution?Maybe to try to get review at Mashable, TechCrunch, etc. How to get an article about your startup on this kind of popular websites? Is there any book/blog you recommend on this...

Re:Poll: How often do you read books? on Friday April 26, 2013 @03:31PM (#5614938)
I'm reading for about one hour per day, every day (rarely I skip a day), for the last 2 years. First year I completed 52, second year I completed 60 books.

If you have any questions about the ebook, feel free to ask.

Re:The bomb that changed my life (2011) on Tuesday April 16, 2013 @05:43PM (#5561110)
14 years ago, I have survived a war. In the second day of NATO attack to Serbia, I have seen a huge explosion only 5-6 km away. That was like in the movies. That was the scariest explosion I've ever seen. First only a big cupola, and then a terrifying sound. Later I realized that this event changed my life. In better way. You learn to appreciate life.
Great ideas! Of course, system can't be secure when you have physical access to the hardware.

What I shared is is not an attacking method, but just a recovery method, which was helpful for me recently, so I hoped that it can be helpful to someone else as well.

I didn't know about this. Thanks for the tip, goes to my notes.
I had this question on a job interview for a system admin role. It was the first technical question :)
Of course, totally agree. Yes, thanks for the LILO tip.
Exactly. It's not any attacking method, but can be handy sometimes.
Hey! Looks interesting. Who did the interviews, you?
