And before anyone else jumps down my throat...An hour later ESPN did post https://es.pn/2Ua6iP7

It's still interesting

This has been one of the more interesting storlines to follow in the NBA for me. Carmelo's blackball may be crazier, but after catching wind of this development on social, I went to ESPN.com and couldn't find a single word written about this.

Any other similar reactions?

Re:Ask HN: What still sucks about remote work? on Monday August 26, 2019 @07:32PM (#20804777)
Developer roles are so much better setup to work well in an remote environment. The built in task list organization helps people not only stay on track but demonstrate their output regardless if they're on site or remote.

The problem is many non-engineering related roles follow similar organization around sprints and backlogs/task lists. Because of that I think there's a natural suspicion around productivity for people you don't get a chance to see everyday.

In other words work organization still sucks for non-engineering related remote work (sales excluded actually).

And then internal relationship building i think is also a challenge which impacts collaboration 100% - that still sucks.

Re:Show HN: I made a CRM system to make sales fun on Monday August 26, 2019 @03:00PM (#20802647)
i love love businesses that start with services before automating with technology. Fully support this approach - def don't build until you need to and have requirements from your experience / your customers. I also really encourage you to think through the messaging that i described (your best 1st CRM with zero pain migration to Salesforce)!
hey sorry for the late response - feel free to email me at jason[at]trytape.com . Happy to chat!

The title of the Show HN grabbed me and the design on your homepage had me leaning in.

I think it's hard to differentiate on design fully as a basic CRM. One idea you could look into as both a feature set and a focus of your marketing is leaning into the idea that you're the ideal first CRM and you make migrating to Salesforce dead simple.

You can snag ppl like our company who have been told you'll eventually need to be on Salesforce but aren't ready for all of that overhead. Then once you've got a community of users, you have a chance at adding more and more functionality that will get people to stay with you instead of migrating.

I've always thought there was a market opportunity around that.

Good luck

I used to work at MLB.com and think this would be amazing for sports focused communities. You should definitely start showing this off to them! Great job
Re:Ask HN: Where to “hang out” online these days? on Friday August 23, 2019 @01:25AM (#20774738)
I'll likely be the one business guy chiming in with this but I've really enjoyed following topics and influencers on LinkedIn. The content is surprisingly helpful with way less trolling than other communities. That may not last but for now it's worth a look...
Re:Show HN: Alexa App for Self Affirmations on Friday August 23, 2019 @01:23AM (#20774724)
Great little product! One thought - I think i could benefit from affirmations but might feel weird asking for it always. Tying it to something i set for myself most mornings like my wake-up alarm would be a nice little add-on and start my day on the right foot.

keep going!

There are a few ways I think about this. The first is to follow the FB framework of focusing on your strengths and interests. The next is to overlap that with what you've been doing at your job most recently. If you're a partner you've likely had to shift your focus to selling deals since becoming a partner. Before then hopefully you had time managing teams of junior consultants. Because of that, I think your most obviously slots at a tech startup would be in business development or operations. Don't get BD confused with Sales as sales is a much more technical role that I don't believe you jump into late into a career at a senior level.

Good luck. As a former consultant that made the jump to tech early in my career, I can tell you it's a leap worth making!

Re:Mortgage Market Reopens to Risky Borrowers on Wednesday August 21, 2019 @06:47PM (#20762751)
Coincidentally chatted with an expert in this space recently and he talked about the feast and famine cycles for the mortgage lending business. The sentiment was that we are definitely feasting and there wasn't much indication of a near term change to famine.

Somewhat tangential comment but feels like it is in line with OP article...
