No, I want them to take time off from work to read the blog. Just as they do when going to the DMV, bank, doctor consultation, etc.
I tried it the very first day it was available to Google employees, and it was not usable.

Then a few weeks back, I gave it another try and I was pleasantly surprised.

It was insanely good!

A colleague and I have been on-and-off trying to build a C++ binary against specific Google libraries for months without success. Then, Gemini CLI was able to build the binary after 2-3 days iterating and refining prompts

Re:Ask HN: Must read applied system architecture articles? on Friday December 27, 2024 @05:30PM (#42526672)
- Articles from highscalability.com

- Videos and presentations from USENIX. Especially OSDI and NSDI

- Meta's Production Engineering blog posts

- Books in "The Architecture of Open Source Applications" series

Re:Show HN: Quantus – LeetCode for Financial Modeling on Thursday December 12, 2024 @06:03PM (#42404325)
Looks like something I want to use.

Would this help me preparing to [aspirationally] compete in the FMWC (Financial Modeling World Cup) ?

I'm wondering how does Raft replication avoids high write latency

Re:OpenJDK Authorization on Wednesday November 20, 2024 @08:18PM (#42200028)
What are use cases for handling the authorization at the JVM level?

As opposed to do it at the OS level or platform level e.g., SELinux, AWS security policy

Gemini generating SQL queries from natural language could be an example of AI making DBs more usable. There is more people speaking natural language than SQL

It made me realize there are ways for capitalism to be “ethical”, that not all banks are trying to make a profit at all costs and that there are investors that track and optimize for other metrics besides monetary returns, e. g., community impact.
“Just Money: Banking as if Society Mattered” Available on edX and MIT OpenCourseWare

Putting money to a good use, caring about society and the environment.

not really hard just harder than Java
With GraalVM it is possible to build native binaries, so no need for JVM to run programs written in Java

Not broken according to the response to that paper:

the conclusions drawn by this paper with regard to CryptDB's guarantees for medical applications are incorrect: had the guidelines been followed, none of the claimed attacks would have been possible. [1]
