This probably is ignorant, But I don't get why we need interface in java/c#. Why can't a base class with abstract methods be sufficient for that use case?

I work as a Big data software engineer, I mostly go to AWS Summit or GCP Next. I feel like these conferences are more pushing their products (which is understandable) than giving new & interesting information about advances in the field. Any recommendations on conferences I should attend?

Trying to query users from a TB scale cloud table. Based on thousands of different segments and generating a daily feed for each of these segments. At the end of every day we query the table to say for e.g. Create a subset of all users living in USA and generate a file for it.We use to query the database every night but the number of segments have become so huge that its no longer feasible to...

I use both clouds extensively while google cloud is cheaper in most cases. But DynamoDb in AWS is still cheaper than Cloud datastore or big table
