Re:Htmx vs. React: A Complete Comparison – Semaphore on Thursday February 22, 2024 @06:28PM (#39474801)
That's certainly part of the domain of react applications. But there are a lot of react applications that aren't (really) in the domain of HTMX, like "local first" applications or other applications that rely heavily on browser js APIs.

Any chance you could post some comparisons between Mistral medium and gpt-4 turbo? I'm curious where you think it's more impressive, I hadn't spent the time to evaluate it yet.

I get that but it's been off many organizations' radar completely until 3.5 became available.

Hasn't gpt-3.5-turbo fine tuning been out for only a couple weeks?

How fast are people supposed to pick up these bleeding edge capabilities (like productized fine-tuning) when even the class of technology is so new?

Lulu is Metallica's only good album though.

Amazed not to see Biorisk in the comments.

A pandemic brought a ton of global infrastructure to it's knees, and it could have been so much worse.

What if that happened again?

Just because something isn't useful to everyone, doesn't mean it isn't useful to someone.

The original claim was that election prediction is useless -- are you willing to concede that election prediction isn't useless?

Ask HN: Best Speech-to-Text Software?

Siri (on Mac os) and google Assistant leave a lot to be desired. I'm willing to pay for a tool that will work for live-transcribing into an editor so I can work on longer documents without typing so much.Bonus points if it would work to type arbitrarily in vim or something.

Pay-for-verification could make verification a negative signal for an account. I imagine people who are marketing themselves heavily will pay for the blue checkmark, while public figures who just use Twitter for fun will pass.

I'm not sure where he's going with this!

Re:Your UberEats courier is (not) riding a bike on Sunday October 30, 2022 @09:10PM (#33400866)
I imagine my mom (who isn't super familiar with uber/etc.) getting really concerned that what the app says doesn't match what's happening in real life.

Imagine you're sitting outside, looking confused and waiting for your food to be delivered. Someone from a car asks you to approach their car, without providing any context of delivery/my name/etc. I've had this exact interaction many times, and I could imagine someone feeling unsafe in that kind of situation.

I just wrote a super simple nvim plugin in fennel that allows you to go straight to your daily note using your existing obsidian config. https://git.sr.ht/~hermiod/obsidianlite.nvim

What I really want to do is build a language server for "backlinking markdown". In that case any editor could consume it to get references, go to definition, etc. Does that sound like the right experience?
