Re:10% of retirees have $1M+ in savings on Tuesday March 19, 2024 @02:42PM (#39758914)
The Cash Flow tab is the result of the inputs in Plan, so no inputs needed there. In the Plan tab, lower right, you will see the 'Cash Flow Priorities'. There you enter the details (time span, amount, etc.) of the build up phase. In the 'Income' section you can enter the withdrawal phase on your "school" dates, as cash inflow. You can add each kid their own entries for different withdrawal date span. Under the 'Expenses' tab is where you put the details of the outflow (ie. expenses) during the "school" dates.

That is in the Plans section. Are you in the phase of building a 529 or withdrawing from one? Either way, the app supports it and both of them are in the Plans section. In it, you can prioritize your cash outflow to build a 529 or include it as part of your inflow if you are withdrawing from one.

Correction, should be: "after asking to press the Win keyboard key" not "after asking windows key"
First call I messed with them. On the second call, he asked me to press the Win keyboard key (not the Windows key as I initially wrote - sorry), where I played dumb and told him I could not find it. That was when he blasted names on me and my mother. It was a good experiment to know what kind of people the person is, but I sure won't let the person talk to my parents or grandparents that foul.
I think I have mislead you, sorry. He was asking for the Win keyboard key, to make me open the Start menu. I think he was going to go similar to this article http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/anatomy-scam-windows-tech-suppo...

Ask HN: Been getting calls from “Windows technical department”

I have been getting calls from "Windows technical department" in the last few days. First one I can laugh on. Second time, after asking windows key repeatedly, the person started calling foul names. The latter calls, I just ignored them. Once they called me twice a day, without to bother to change the calling number. I know it's a scam by less respectful people. How can we prevent these...

Re:Ask HN: How to manage focus in a stop and go workflow on Friday August 14, 2015 @12:26AM (#10058620)
I agree that having two streams would optimize my time, but my problem is with the switching. Regardless of to what, the coupling and de-coupling is an overhead for me.

Ask HN: How to manage focus in a stop and go workflow

I work with data, and my typical workflow involves cycles of high focus(e.g. writing data extract SQL code)for ~15 minutes and low focus (e.g. waiting the extract to return data) for ~5 minutes. I repeat the cycle continuously. Lately, it takes more mental overhead to come back to high focus mode because my mind wonders too far during low focus mode. Does anyone share this situation and was...

Re:How to Make Time for Your Side Project on Monday January 27, 2014 @06:48PM (#7134222)
This one hits home close. Again. The first one was reading a quote from Ira Glass:

“Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase, they quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have. We all go through this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know its normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you will finish one story. It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions. And I took longer to figure out how to do this than anyone I’ve ever met. It’s gonna take awhile. It’s normal to take awhile. You’ve just gotta fight your way through.”
