There are local sub climates like anywhere else of course, so if you're living on the far east coast, or next to the west coast mountains, you'll get worse and better climate, respectively.
Or has the paywall simply been deactivated?
Hell, I want one to help me do the dishes. There's somewhere a stool wouldn't make much sense.
okay, so start charging money :D
To me, the job interview is a mutual interview, i.e., I am interviewing the employer while they interview me. And when it comes to deciding on teams/projects, I use the probationary period as if it were an extra due diligence after the interview to decide if the work is interesting (much as the employer gets the time to decide if I really am a good fit and productive).
I think many people have been sold by founders and interviewers on the greatness of a set of projects only to find the scope or robustness of those projects to be much less.
Thanks for the post.
Not that I know what calm vs stable MF would be. I wonder if it correlates with something else other than sun's position?
There are so many possibly repercussions with family, friends, and outsiders, in addition to the things brought up by other posters re: poaching, etc.
I personally wouldn't want my salary revealed publicly because my family would treat me differently as a result (I know this from experience).
If this idea spreads, it wouldn't be long before someone comes up with a way to API this data into something like LinkedIN or Monster. "Joe makes $100k at CompanyX - is it time for a change?"
Internally to the business though, this seems to have a lot of positives. I'll be interested to see how this evolves at Buffer.
1. how long does a refill last? how do you quantify it? in # of normal cigarettes? minutes? 2. time between battery charges? 3. does the second-hand vapour smell similar to the flavour names?
Also, there's some kind of disconnect between your "how it all started", the name of your product, your front-page advertising (ok, the pretty girls), and the scary bottom-of-page warnings. I think you need to make your messaging a little bit more congruent.
As the father of a little girl, I find this sentence more ominous than was probably intended. The formula aisle is already overly complex with Regular, Iron Enriched, Omega Enriched, Soy, Low-Lactose, and No Lactose, among the many yogurt sounding ones (pre/macro/post/whatever-biotic).
However, I am worried (perhaps due to cynicism) that instead of rationally simplifying this system, it might be dumbed down to Boy and Girl formula. Though I guess there may be benefits as well. sigh - glad I'll probably be done having kids by then :D
It's pretty intuitive except when you type a name that is very unpopular as a registered first name with social security (which is where the data comes from according to the blog posts behind the About link)
I thought the same thing about "rich people" - I guess he meant rich as in "rich dataset"
It does need a bit of polishing but not to the degree some commenters here are suggesting. You have an explanation linked through "About" to a blog post. Some of that detail should probably be on the graph, e.g., explaining what clicking on the legend does.
Nice work!
I had mostly gotten used to the new super scrolly pages, but this site breaks it by looking like a one-screen site with a footer and sidebar.
It's surprising how close it tastes without any actual burger.
Now I'm thinking instead of toasting the bun, I should leave it cold and put toast inside as the "beef".
I also remember that everyone had their own kind of 'roughly tablet-sized' time waster, including crossword books, Reader's Digest, novels, magazines, and yep, even TV Guide.
Over the years this had expanded to portable game systems like GameBoy, virtual pets like Tamagotchi, the original push e-mail devices like BlackBerry and so on. Hell, even when Timex came out with Indiglo watches I remember people used to pull out their watches and compare backlights the way people started to do the same with ringtones on feature phones.
However the modern smartphone is the amalgamation of all of these things into one. So in one sense the smartphone is really just an all-in-one version of the separate time-wasters.
The key difference that I see isn't just that "after you read the paper for the day, that's it, it's done" (and I do agree with you on this point), it's that the mobile phone (especially the smart phone) also enables a new application that wasn't previously possible: engaging in conversation with someone else than the person(s) you are physically next to.
No previous method of communication was portable like this with the potential to allow you to bypass a physical conversation so easily. And on top of that, since the phones have access to so many social connections, people seem to have unlimited opportunities to engage in long-distance conversations while ignoring those present physically.
But someone else rightly pointed out in another comment that the problem isn't so much that this is possible, but that our social norms haven't updated to make this a truly rude act. I just went to our friends' American Thanksgiving party and watched many conversations halt at any incoming mobile phone notification. Which I find doubly-rude: that the conversations on the phone seem prioritized over finishing an in-person exchange?
I think the best thing we can do is to just own the device we like, and practice the social etiquette that we hope others adhere to as well.
I wonder if they've solved for this already? There's only one photo of panties on the site that I can find and the style suggests they would require removal of pants. Not exactly fast, and potentially awkward in public restrooms.
