Re:macOS Sequoia is available today on Monday September 16, 2024 @05:44PM (#41561296)
It's a great time to switch to Linux.
Did you get permission from HN to do this?

There's no way I'd join something like this without the official stamp.

freaky-flowers was cool. How does it work?
I tried their 25 inch monitor. E-Ink is such a better experience. I don't feel so jacked in to the matrix when I use it.

The ghosting and refresh rate are holding this technology back though. Definitely not main driver status yet.

LED and LCD screens seem to shift the brain into an agitated frequency. I wish they'd make more progress with E-Ink!

Solder the thing!
Re:Database "sharding" came from Ultima Online? on Sunday August 25, 2024 @10:43PM (#41353551)
Yes. A lot of tech history has its roots in gaming. And Trammel is for carebears.
Re:The Value of Milk.com on Tuesday July 23, 2024 @01:19AM (#41042764)
Nice. The "edit" portion was very clever!

Now write a short, trite comment.

Re:The Value of Milk.com on Monday July 22, 2024 @11:41PM (#41042310)
No need to repeat your snarky opinion on multiple comments. We understood where you're coming from the first time.

He probably won't get any offers with that kind of attitude.

No one likes paying someone who has an entitled asshole mentality.

Re:Show HN: Procedural Art –– 'Pulse' on Sunday July 14, 2024 @05:32AM (#40959874)
The ship is strangely generalized in design. There's no specific bridge; no command center. There's no engineering section. I can identify no living quarters. There's no indication of life.
Being reminded I didn't get into it for money and recognizing the tools and ideas the masses chose to define the industry are unbelievably terrible, delusional even.
Wait, now there's two boxes.
Why don’t we have over-ocean cables to ferry cargo/cargo ships?
Maybe something low effort and ironic like you'd find on a web ring, but even less effort.
Re:The Push to Ban Ransom Payments Is Gaining Momentum on Thursday May 23, 2024 @01:42AM (#40450873)
Ban cryptocurrency worldwide. Problem solved.
Windows is a telemetry nightmare and doesn't believe in free will.

MacOS is like a controlling father that lets you opt out with strings attached.

Linux lacks polish so it never feels like a reliable workhorse.

All these OSes surely are backdoored so it's choose your poison of who you want reading your email: shifty suit and ties or cyberpunk graybeards.

Re:Raspberry Pi prepares for London listing on Thursday May 16, 2024 @08:45PM (#40385161)
An ad supported freemium Raspberry Pi running pi-hole would really sum up the last decade in tech.
Re:Cubic millimetre of brain mapped in spectacular detail on Thursday May 09, 2024 @09:58PM (#40314837)
It looks like spaghetti code.
Re:Ask HN: Why do you use Apple products? on Thursday May 09, 2024 @12:01AM (#40305195)
I don't trust Apple anymore. Transitioning out. The thumb scans, then face scans, and then making Little Snitch not fully effective, and now they make their own chips so zero accountability as to what kind of functions are in those chips in a world with satellite internet.
Had fun killing an hour there, fun gameplay. Is there multiplayer?
Re:Drawing.garden on Thursday January 11, 2024 @02:50AM (#38949084)
2024 off to a great start
Repeated stupidity in some areas.
There's plenty of Smeagols out there already. We need a Frodo.
Who says we have to wait?
You might be stuck programming an abacus for a few years, or a TI-83
I wonder at what point there will be roving mobs of people destroying every device in sight. Anti-AI vigilante groups, etc.
I totally get the mars thing now.
Re:Agile has failed. Officially. Now comes version 2 on Thursday December 14, 2023 @04:04PM (#38647219)
Agile sure is a weird way to pronounce micromanagement. Why not just call it what it is?
Re:Ask HN: How much do you read in a year? on Wednesday November 29, 2023 @05:10AM (#38457601)
How much should I be reading?
Re:Sam Altman, Greg Brockman and others to join Microsoft on Monday November 20, 2023 @03:14AM (#38344471)
The only way to keep AGI safe is to put it on the Zune.
