cool! but I have a problem, how can I exit this game?
I've quickly checked and guestimate of the rental would be ~250-300k per month for this kind of usage they claim to have. It's all based on open prices from together.ai. So probably it worth the switch for them afterall, I can imagine that 56 engineers can burn tokens for more than 300k per month
yeah, seems like they're renting (according to the info from the video), but doesn't it make the bill worse? I mean the provider makes money somehow, so it should be more expensive for revolut. I guess it's a lot anyway
I was trying to get some insights / observation form the data, and noticed that 2 out of 5 "top stores" in the last month is about death. And then I saw that all-time record #1 story is also about death. I have mixed feelings and I'm not sure what to do with that knowledge :D
But the website is nice, I had some fun clicking around and check the most popular stuff
> Per David Abitbol, who leads AI ops there: 56 Nvidia B200s, a blended 30 cents per million tokens, roughly a tenth of what they paid Anthropic and OpenAI.
So they've invested around $2.5M-3M into hardware + monthly operating costs (electricity, updates, cooling). I wonder how much did they spend on tokens to decide to make such a switch. I mean if they used to spend $500k-1M per month just on tokens then it would pay off in a year or so, assuming their infra will be stable and efficient.
We'll see if that's a trend for mid-big companies or just an experiment.
Yeah, that makes sense. The "care" package also sounds very good, do you plan to expand to other countries beyond NL? I used to live in Spain and people own a lot of dogs there, so I think both websites will be quite useful there
What an amazing article! It's really hard to find the balance between "ship faster, fix later because AI will help" and "efficient thoughtful engineering" these days. The world is kind of pushing everybody to work faster because "with AI you're more efficient" and it's also pushing to surrender and just accept it from time to time. Maybe that's occasional thoughtful surrender mentioned in the article, or it's just lack of energy to resist to it at that point.
The article is inspiring though, I have more motivation to work on my thinking process and my engineering setup (and vibe limit haha) to be more thoughtful, thank you.
I don't think anything unique should be done now, solutions are the same as always: keep your infra and software up-to-date. Configure dependabot or similar, make updates weekly, enforce 2FA everywhere, instruct the team to be more responsible, make backups (and probably backups of backups) and be consistent in all these boring chores.
I still believe that majority of recent incidents were related to human factor, all these "we'll update it somewhere next sprint or next year" kind of people sitting on Python 2.7 / PHP 7 just paid for their irresponsibility.
I'm curious if GH and the like will adapt to the "agentic era" in their products

Yeah, I understand that completely, the goal is to relax so time pressure would kill it :) But as a separate mode in the future for "hardcore" games might work. Great job anyway!
I like this minimalistic design, and I actually had a nice break, thanks :)
It'd be cool to have my personal stats and leaderboard there
It would probably not fit the name, but having dogs for that would be really valuable too. Also showing the stats on how many reports / found / missed cats would be helpful for building trust. Good luck with this project!
Nice! I like the filters very much, especially "obscurity". Watchlist is also good, I'll have yet another list of things which I'll most likely never complete :D
it's a bit naive to think that you can make any harm to those corporations just by recreating their software :( they have much more than software (power, service, structure, organisation, contracts, etc.)
on the other hand building this stuff would be a nice portfolio project for those laid-off people and it might help them find a new job :)
AI struggling a bit with legacy databases in a way that you need more iterations to really find all the bugs, otherwise it turns into "find bugs -> fix bugs -> find more bugs which were not found on step 1 -> fix regressions" and that repeats again and again :/ But I'm sure that Postgres team will handle that eventually and we'll get a better product in the end
Maybe that's their thoughtful decision and they just let people create whatever they want with HN data, which is good I guess

Really? They've just created another fraud and pretend that nothing has happened? lol
Great idea and nice implementation, please keep it going!
I'm waiting for HackerMusic and HackerNet now :)
Great and very motivating story, thank you for that!
thanks for bringing back my childhood memories!
It's not a surprise after so many IP violations recently that big guys will start blocking this stuff. But people who wants to reverse-engineer will just use Chinese or local models for that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don't think it's going to help Anthropic / OpenAI with that fight, but this is something that have to do to make their investors happy
Nice idea, thanks Andrej! When will you add HackerTube Shorts? (kidding :D)
Sleep tracking was important for me too, but I've solved that by having whoop (it was a gift, though). It's tracking that stuff nicely, and I only have to charge it once in 1-2 weeks.
Yep yep, google even tried to replace default SERP with AI reply but I think that didn't work well and they rolled back. And they've also introduced "AI performance" in search console to show impressions for AI, so they're moving towards new search product for sure

Hey everyone,I'm maintaining a couple personal pet projects and I've recently noticed in google search console that on both projects impressions and clicks went from 500-700 impressions / 10-15 clicks daily to almost zero in one day. First I thought that I broke something (e.g. added noindex by mistake or so), but everything was good and content was good, fresh and up to date.I went researching...
