If there was a demand, game developers would find a way. It’s just that kids are playing games on phones these days.

We need much, much more childish things in life, not fewer.
Re:Fetch API has landed into Node.js on Tuesday February 01, 2022 @08:26AM (#30162038)
It makes it easier to learn and develop both frontend and backend.
I wouldn’t even pay half that.
Re:Ethereum 2.0 launches on Tuesday December 01, 2020 @09:18AM (#25265337)
It’s digital money. You buy things with it.
I don’t see it as a disadvantage at all.

If people who are already saving in a high yield savings account move all of their funds to this, that’s almost entirely on them.

On the other hand, if this entices people who aren’t saving at all to start saving, that’s a huge advantage for them.

this is real. check out Indigo Ag
Re:Walmart says it will discontinue Jet on Tuesday May 19, 2020 @04:41PM (#23239925)
I interned at Walmart Technology in 2014. All of the interns had to participate in an innovation challenge, and one of the teams had this very idea. I can only assume that Walmart explored the idea and passed on it.
I’m also seeing these two issues, although I wouldn’t call it really broken. Minor bugs in an otherwise great library.
Between Https and VPNs, this seems ineffectual for people who actually want to stay hidden. Am I missing something?
I recently got AT&T Fiber, and I was forced to pay an extra $10/month for their modem/router.
Re:Ask HN: Why is JavaScript still mocked and made fun of? on Thursday April 23, 2020 @05:53PM (#22961971)
Imo it's mostly due to the sheer number of people using it. More users --> more complaints.
Re:A letter to myself as a fresh software engineer on Wednesday April 01, 2020 @08:49AM (#22748012)
When I think of the things that bring me joy, comparing myself to others doesn’t come up.
Re:Ask HN: When does it make sense to roll your own X? on Sunday July 14, 2019 @09:10AM (#20433170)
This is interesting to me because I often see rolling my own X as having a higher cost than bringing in a dependency. Maybe this is due to a lack of experience on my part, so I’m curious what you all consider when evaluating the cost of a dependency?
Re:The Brave Browser Will Pay You to Surf the Web on Wednesday April 24, 2019 @06:20PM (#19743140)
Isn't Brave Ads opt-in? You can still use Brave as you have been.
Re:Outrage culture is out of control on Friday February 22, 2019 @09:21AM (#19225504)
Anybody know why this was removed from the Hacker News feed? When I saw this post, it was at the very top of the feed. A few minutes later I refreshed the feed, and it was gone.
Re:Reasons Python Sucks on Tuesday December 18, 2018 @09:50AM (#18706703)
Of all the things to “hate with a passion”, choosing a programming language sounds miserable
Re:Mastodon Is Better Than Twitter: Elevator Pitch on Saturday August 18, 2018 @11:55AM (#17789040)
If X is better than Y, is stating so necessary?
As pointed out in other comments, there are multiple large cities within a 300 mile radius. Even if there weren't, saying there is "nothing" there dismisses the real lives and businesses that are there.
This is wrong and condescending.
Re:Keybase Exploding Messages on Thursday June 21, 2018 @12:21AM (#17362143)
I don’t see your point. If you archive all inbound text, this feature is clearly not for you. This is like saying a door lock isn’t useful for anyone because you keep your window open.
Re:Perceived Physical Activity and Mortality: Study on Monday May 28, 2018 @10:11AM (#17172485)
The article focuses on risk of death with regard to fitness instead of an ability to perform in a sport.
Great tool!

It'd be very helpful to have Uphold available as an exchange.
