This is a good article and discussion topic, thank you
"I distinguish four types. There are clever, hardworking, stupid, and lazy officers. Usually two characteristics are combined. Some are clever and hardworking; their place is the General Staff. The next ones are stupid and lazy; they make up 90 percent of every army and are suited to routine duties. Anyone who is both clever and lazy is qualified for the highest leadership duties, because he possesses the mental clarity and strength of nerve necessary for difficult decisions. One must beware of anyone who is both stupid and hardworking; he must not be entrusted with any responsibility because he will always only cause damage."
So according to him, most people seem to fall into the bucket of being lazy and stupid, which is closer to reality. "Skilled pragmatists" seem to map into what he terms "clever and lazy".

This is an interesting quote from a WWII General. So "skilled pragmatists" seems to map to what Kurt terms as clever and lazy. But it also means that most people are lazy and stupid.

Something historic is happening right before our eyes, and it doesn't make sense to bury our heads in the sand. Wonder if posts like the outbreak of Covid got flagged too?

Maybe he was relying on his allies eg: General Surovikin. Nevertheless, he is correct to sense that many in the Russian Army are unhappy with how the war is panning out. But he is either miscalculating or misreading the situation, or see this as an existential crisis for himself and Wagner [1]

The MegaGuide for the Flu Pandemic Survival and Preparedness
https://theprepared.com/wuhan-coronavirus/
The key here in any pandemic is to make sure you reduce the chances of being infected. That works better than any surgical masks, N95 respirators, etc.
In essence, minimize or eliminate social contacts like hugs, hand shakes, kisses or touching anyone during this period. If you need to do so, remember to not touch your face, nose or eyes, and wash or sterilize your hands immediately after that. Stay away from public places with large amounts of people or confined areas. Your face is sacred, remember not to touch your face, eyes or nose when you're outside, or else wear a surgical or N95 mask (if you can find one), which helps in enforcing the above. Wash your hands for at least 20-30 seconds when you return home. Do not touch things like lift buttons with your fingers. Use a key, pen, elbows or knuckles (not so ideal but it's better than using fingers). If you're travelling in a car or cab, request the driver to wind down the windows. Stock up on medicine, and avoid visiting hospitals unless required.
Assuming that 20% of the US population (330 million) gets it, we're looking at about 13.2 million (20%x20%x330 million) patients who require admission to an ICU ward. Needless to say, that is enough to overwhelm the healthcare system and hospitals, and increase the overall mortality rate, when people who requires ICU are turned away due to lack of beds or equipment.
As it is, the best option would be to delay the spread as much as possible, so that the number would be spread across a time-span for as long as possible.
