"A source with direct knowledge of the negotiations says that the sole job of this initial board is to vet and appoint a new formal board of up to 9 people that will reset the governance of OpenAl. Microsoft will likely have a seat on that expanded board, as will Altman himself."

Given Netflix's investment in content, they will be not removing it anytime soon as it fills their library but removing the third party content once licensing fees are up, eventually it will be mostly just netflix original content on the platform and the more the better
Re:The Cost of Developers on Tuesday June 05, 2018 @05:13PM (#17242125)

except they already took a large secondary offering they keep if the company fizzles out

"Yesterday we discussed how Robinhood had raised $363 million in new funding at a $5.6 billion post-money valuation. All of that was primary capital, but we've since learned from multiple sources that there also was a secondary transaction whereby Robinhood's co-founders and some early employees cashed out just north of $100 million."

Amazon uses Stripe as well for some of it's transactions https://www.geekwire.com/2017/amazon-quietly-starts-using-st...
ironically Uber currently has a business in this exact area

"Returning to the files, I soon found the puzzle piece. It was in a document Otto had submitted in support of its application to operate the state’s first Autonomous Technology Certification Facility (ATCF). This is an independent organization that will assess all autonomous vehicles that want to operate (rather than just test) in Nevada, checking that they comply with the state’s safety requirements and traffic laws. The application was a success, and construction of the facility is now underway in a suburb of Las Vegas. (Yes, you read that right — Uber will soon be assessing other companies’ compliance with safety rules.)"

Re:The Follower Factory on Saturday January 27, 2018 @01:51PM (#16247455)
I mean prolly somewhere near 40/50% of Twitter's 330 Million MAU are fake, the company will drop 50% or more in value if they ever decide to delete those accounts, incentives are aligned for Twitter to encourage bots by making it easy as possible (not adding captchas, etc.) and not enforce policy
SpaceX is a private company

depends on what scale your at and the fact that your vendor locked, can't use GKE in other data centers

Re:Wi-Fi startup Eero lays off 30 employees on Thursday January 04, 2018 @07:32PM (#16075462)

Re:SoftBank Succeeds in Tender Offer for Large Stake in Uber on Thursday December 28, 2017 @08:18PM (#16026719)
also there is limited liquidity and limited secondary activity so it is either sell at $49 billion or wait for an IPO, Softbank has all the leverage, why on earth wouldn't they try to lowball investors who were going to sell and had no other options
Re:Peter Thiel sells most of remaining Facebook stake on Wednesday November 22, 2017 @04:52PM (#15761021)
I mean the price he sold at IPO was way higher then what he bought in at the seed round as one of the first investors, it is one of the best seed investments ever, given he was already one of the longest shareholders by the time of the IPO it made sense to sell
