Re:House votes to let 9/11 victims sue Saudi Arabia on Friday September 09, 2016 @02:01PM (#12464612)
Maybe I'm just ignorant but how can the House of Commons support this well also once supporting the wars that followed 911. To me it's as if they are admitting they had no business attacking the surrounding countries.

This should be spread around.
That sucks. Pretty sure France has strong surveillance laws and that still happened. If anything it proves that stronger surveillance doesn't stop terrorism.
So you want software regulations on how code ought to be done? Forcing the separation of components based on safety... what even warrants a component to fall under these regulations. Such a dangerous slope. Just think of a time when regulation is at its peak and people want to innovate but can't due to law restrictions / regulations. Being trapped by standards that are produced by people who know nothing about software.
The problem with making it public is it would start this process of regulation. Then it gives way for these regulations to be used in such a way that would greatly restrict software creativity and growth.
Yeah that is kinda my point. I am upset that GM wasn't held to this standard of accountability or any other car company for that matter. I agree with you that this one is as bad or worse.
As bad as it is to screw the environment.. I am still shocked by all the out rage coming from countries. Its like everyone forgot GM knowingly left faulty parts that were killing people for 10 years. This entire thing seems so political.

Re:Ask HN: How do I make a lot of money quickly? on Tuesday August 04, 2015 @01:56PM (#10005057)
I hear the lottery pays out well. To make a lot of money quickly requires a lot of money to begin with. You have no interest in relationships? Some would say a relationship and the experience is worth far more than any amount of money.

She isn't accidentally telling you. She is required to tell you. If you have a problem with it tell her you don't wish to be recorded.
As suggested above RoR (ruby on rails) would be a good starting point. The js world is changing to fast to really sink your teeth into one framework. Even angular is about to get dumped. Maybe it would be wise to jump on a new framework pre-production stage and grow with it. Such as http://aurelia.io/ . I say this because you will likely get a good life span out of a new framework rather then one of the old dogs dying out right now.
Yeah sorry, so what I meant was: What type of startup are you? Do you have a product? Software as a service? Some sort of service startup? Answering questions about what type of business you are will give a better idea of what your needs are. An example of this would be what type of data are you collecting? Based on what you are collecting a certain database technology will likely be better than the rest. Look at this link about nosql vs sql https://www.mongodb.com/nosql-explained. Hope this helps more.
Well... You should pick one that meets your needs haha. But when in doubt should probably pick something you know.
"but I am able to pick up their communication system with my mind. It's like a receiver."

That definitely makes you sound crazy.

Yeah after reading all these comments, My attitude does need a change. I actually felt a lot better after hearing all these comments.

But on another note.. My boss likes to say we aren't paid for time, we are paid based on deliverables and making project deadlines.

But I get your point completely.

Good Point.
Good point. Seems to be the consensus. I am being to sour.
valid points, thanks for sharing.
Yeah that's a good point. I never considered asking for more money.

Ask HN: Should I have to teach my employer what I learn in my own time?

I don't want to sound like an asshole but I am kinda hung up on this.Recently at the company I work for we are trying to adopt modern / newer technology, frameworks etc.. Which is great I love that but the company has given me next to no work time to learn any of these technologies but insists we use them. I am alright with that, I wanted to learn them anyways so I spend a good chunk of my own...

Re:Bill C-51 passes in House of Commons on Thursday May 07, 2015 @11:37AM (#9505824)
Even if Harper goes (and if he doesn't I call shenanigans) the bill has been passed. The damage has been done. If liberals win it is highly unlikely they would remove that bill, and if NDP wins still i doubt they will abolish the bill. At best you can hope for NDP to win and submit revisions to the bill for more oversight.

Just an awful day for Canada. Whats the point of the government if they don't listen to the people. I can't see more than 1% of the population wanting this. Should elect a government that listens to the people.
