A wonderful example of how gender is a social construct.
Did he have a brother named Sue? If so, I might know the reason ...
> And he said, "Son, this world is rough
> And if a man's gonna make it, he's gotta be tough
> And I knew I wouldn't be there to help ya along.
> So I give ya that name and I said goodbye
> I knew you'd have to get tough or die
> And it's the name that helped to make you strong."

Unikernels (e.g. MirageOS) were gaining traction right before containers swooped in and sucked the air out of the room. I think they could see renewed interest in the very near future.
> now focused on a lot of things I don’t care about
Yeah, I'm a paying customer and have been asking for a desktop app for Proton Drive for years. Instead, they've focused their efforts on a crypto wallet and a chatbot. (Sure, we recently got a CLI app which _is_ better than nothing but come on.)
I've noticed a marked increase in overall shitty, childish, selfish behavior in and out of the work place since around 2016. Being an asshole has absolutely been normalized.
Same. I've been a customer since nearly Day 1. I would prefer not to have to migrate but this behavior is very concerning. I wish I could just (reliably/practically) host my own damn email server.
Take a beat and think about the situation we've found ourselves in: almost every company suddenly has hard, expensive dependencies on a brand new toolchain which is _being tested in prod_; people are giving these black boxes access to their systems, feeding them trade secrets, credentials and all other manner of secrets and PII; these tools are known to escape containment and do ... whatever they please; the downstream ecosystems and almost every other piece of software currently being released are all being developed with (tainted by ...) this shit.
The world economy is also being propped up by all of this. In all likelihood, this Binance hack is only a preview of what's to come.
I'm reminded of some of the choice quotes from 404's article about the current state of Proton. I wonder how much _alpha AI, non-loser engineering_ has been going on at Binance?
> Andy Yen, the CEO of Proton, had a message for an employee in the company’s security Slack channel who urged the company to at least take a few days to pentest newly written code before pushing it live. “That’s bullshit and loser thinking. Of course it’s possible to be fast and secure,” Yen wrote in the channel at the end of August. “Stop thinking always of how to be slower, and focus more on how to be faster.”

> having children you're the enemy.
With these people, this greatly depends on _who_ is having the children.
... and gainfully employed!
My dentist recently got a fancy 3D scanner courtesy of Invisalign. It's been very revealing to see such detailed views of all sides of my teeth and their various maladies. However, at >40, I suddenly have a crossbite which needs immediate treatment using... You guessed it, Invisalign!
I jest but I honestly have no idea whether or not this is a legit issue that is worth paying $$$$s for and/or if this is just someone shilling for a vendor to earn a kickback.
There have already been rumors of some administration-wide pardon scheme but that'll probably fall on its face when put to the test, like almost everything else they do.
It's baffling to watch people destroy their reputations, careers and possibly risk their freedom for a chance to get close to power and pad their (possibly offshore/crypto) savings accounts. For as evolved as we pretend to be, we're really not very far beyond our "lizard brains" and a few missed meals away from mania. I was actually just thinking about Todd Blanche and the stupid games he's playing, flirting with contempt in a number of lawsuits. He's almost certainly got less time in the AG seat than Trump has in the president's and reality is going to slam into his brown nose very hard, sooner than later.
There are a few dipshit NY pols playing this game right now. They have their signs and literature out touting their "votes to (temporarily) stop data centers".
How many Os are there in opiod?
This all sounds like a policy problem (i.e. natural stupidity). As someone further up said, this is inevitable when there's a profit motive and slathering AI on top just moves the goalposts and kicks the can. I can already imagine a future where The Poors only get access to the "lite" models in these scenarios.
That's not how exploits work, though. This is also the reason why backdoors in encryption and the like are never a good idea. Sure, "police" are the ones _most likely_ to use this tool (developed by a private company...) to use this exploit to break into iPhones. However, anyone who is motivated enough and/or has the resources _could_ also do it.
> The idea behind this so-called “inactivity reboot” is to revert the phone to a state that makes it harder for police to break into the device, and thus extract sensitive data from it with forensics technology.
This is weird framing. The feature makes it harder for anyone to break into the device.
Show up at town halls and vote.
> competition from the open source models
Right and this is why they're going to become subject to import/export controls, labeled as a national security risk, etc.
Solar flares would like a word.
Where does this end? Drones following each of us every time we leave our homes and otherwise peeking through our windows, doing spectrum analysis, etc.?
Let me off this stupid ride, please.
The surveillance will continue until morale improves ... or collapses, depending on your perspective.
Again, I'm not (for all intents and purposes) forced to cross paths with any of those individual pervert glass wearers like I am with Flock cameras. It's a false equivalence.
> these Meta glasses are far more ubiquitous
Huh? Not in my area. I've seen one pair of these in the wild and dozens of Flock cameras. Will that change? Maybe. For now, the _freak outs_ about Flock are absolutely justified.
Their footprints are also completely different. I can't avoid Flock cameras unless I want to change my path of travel and take back roads, which costs me time and money. Whereas I _might_ encounter someone wearing Meta glasses _if_ I happen to cross paths with them.
> When someone exceed their allotted time during a public comments period, that person is depriving the rest of the people of their abilities to comment.
Except ... nowhere in the article does it say that Heider exceeded her allotted time.
