What a bizarre story. They say it's an anonymous network. What does that mean when multiple locations with racks of tens of thousands of SIM cards and the supporting equipment are found around NYC area? In order to manage this hardware and the operations around this equipment it would take boots on the ground, at least occasionally, for repairs and maintenance.

No mention of arrests or surveillance of any site to try and apprehend anyone related.

I am confused. They didn't want children to vape but they were in schools saying it is safe? This makes zero sense and I am not sure how your reply is coherent. Does the Sinclair quote apply here?
This is an article pumping information control legislation from an organization who receives at least 47% of their funding from the department of defense, Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, Northrop Grumman, Thales Group, and Raytheon Technologies. This article itself seems like an "information operation", in the article's parlance, to help generate consent for legislation that controls information.

There is practically no empirical evidence in this article, just reliance on vague "indicators" and the time of tweets. Forgive me for taking this with a massive grain of salt.

Does supporting far right coups and writing context free puff pieces like this(constantly)[1] after a massive turnout for the very left wing party that the NYT railed against seem center left? Or, their uncritical push for the war in Iraq. Or their complete silence on the United State's role in Yemen etc... They write articles like this weekly, if that is not neoliberal then what is it?

Re:Biden wins White House, vowing new direction for divided U.S. on Saturday November 07, 2020 @05:33PM (#25020269)
The media is not center left. Neoconservatise(Fox) and neoliberal(CNN/NYT) are different shades of right. We are watching different points of view of right wing politics argue. Wall street vs petrochemical companies vs SV, etc... all jostling for position. And all of these people with quite a bit of overlapping interests but slightly different focus i.e. foreign intervention but should the pentagon focus on M.E. destabilization or for African and S.A. lithium?
Really? Believing that your entitled to externalize as much damage onto the world as you feel like is psychopathic
Re:Bernie Sanders unveils $16T 'Green new deal' plan on Thursday August 22, 2019 @01:08PM (#20770239)
It is wrong to redistribute to those born into poverty, countries exploited for their resources, and those living around toxic industrial externalities?

Maybe, from a libertarian "I got mine"/"I did this all on my own" attitude. But, damn that is a simplistic, selfish outlook

Re:Bernie Sanders unveils $16T 'Green new deal' plan on Thursday August 22, 2019 @12:51PM (#20770045)
I never hear this criticism when devaluing our currency to go to war or subsidize large business.

Devaluing the currency as a form of redistribution downward seems to be way more radical then devaluing it for wealth transfers to military contractors and large institutions. Why is that?

Re:CEO compensation has grown 940% since 1978 on Thursday August 15, 2019 @02:27PM (#20708152)
Agreed. But to say that there shouldn't be more mechanisms to disincentive this behavior because they will simply be skirted is self-defeating. Why have any regulations?

This argument can apply to any means to constrain profit motivation for the benefit of society. Equating punishing why collar criminal to mainly impoverished people selling or using drugs is a massive simplification

It's similar to why tax a corporation? They will just move elsewhere. Also, a dubious assertion. Not all corporation will simply pack up and move out of an economy like the USA.

Or why raise minimum wage? It'll cause an equal rise in inflation. There is no law stating the inflation will be exactly proportional to rise in wages.

The psyops conducted by Cambridge Analytica and similar organizations in the US, England, and around the world is pretty scary

> 2. Sales tactics are basically tried and true throughout time. It's no coincidence the most effective e-commerce techniques are scarcity and social proof[0]. Genuine influencers have the ability to affect social proof on a massive scale.

I wonder if 'social proof' is easier to fake/generate on social media with Sybil attacks (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sybil_attack) as well as payment to real individuals to vouch for something they don't actually use

I wonder if people will/are starting not trust these measures of social proof

Re:Record Number of Honeybee Colonies Died Last Winter on Thursday June 20, 2019 @12:34PM (#20234538)
From what I understand about the idea of leaving more honey for the bees vs. providing only sugar as a food source and taking all the honey is the lack of nutrition as well as other effects eating pure cane sugar has on the hive. Eating only sugar is believed to weaken the hive and make it more susceptible to other pressures on the hive

Have you been to Chicago
Much of that plastic discharge is from manufacturing of goods that will be consumed in the West. Economic and environmental policies in these places are exploited by Western businesses

Simple blaming it on the culture of a people seems myopic
