Re:European crash tester says carmakers must bring back physical controls on Tuesday March 05, 2024 @10:59AM (#39605219)

It is like a 2+2=4 equation that touchscreen blocks more time out of the road to carry out simple controls over the car.

Mazda in 2019: “And of course with a touchscreen you have to be looking at the screen while you’re touching...so for that reason we were comfortable removing the touch-screen functionality,” And still to this day, Mazda has minimum controls over a touchscreen.

Re:John Giannandrea named to Apple’s executive team on Friday December 21, 2018 @05:57AM (#18732609)

The number of times I've seen people using voice commands since Siri launched isn't more than 5 (except when people were experimenting with jokes and stuff). This may be specific to where I live idk.

I'd say we need 10-20 more years for voice assistants to be smoothly integrated with our daily lives. Until then big tech companies have just started the race (collecting data, enhancing experience) to be the best voice interface in the future.

From my point of view, users of our generation are just experimental subjects for currently unfunctional & uncommon but buzzed products like voice assistants and VR.

Re:Microsoft Clarity – a product to visualize user interactions on Thursday December 13, 2018 @06:00AM (#18671388)

How does clarity differ from other tracking or session replay tools like hotjar or fullstory? It looks like it's another Microsoft-ish-ly bad version of other existing things.

Re:Slow Software on Thursday November 22, 2018 @03:02AM (#18508570)

While comparing Samsung and Apple mobile device latencies the article gives these examples: Tapping latency examples (Videos slowed 16x): - Opening a settings tab on an iPhone 6s with ~90ms of latency. - Toggling a setting a Samsung S3 with ~330ms of latency.

I agree latency is evil, I hated Android a while ago because of this. Apple always felt really fast compared to other OS. BUT it seems normal that toggling a setting proceeds a bit slower than just opening a tab no? It's like it's just a bad example.
