Not into politics, but what is the point? I neither understand BBC nor HN to publish a story like this one? It's notorious that Ramallah has shops like and other city, so in Israel, and people have normal life here. Just 2 month ago I got a interview for a company (freightos) which has both branch in jerusalem (west) and ramallah, so I suppose that people success to get their things together somehow?
Re:EUD Security Guidance: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS on Tuesday July 31, 2018 @03:57AM (#17651347)
A weird thing occurred to my installation a month ago. I was on previous ubuntu version (17).

According to a wireshark scan, there was a strange UDP continous stream, even with all applications closed. My computer was reaching several IP in Europe. The text of the stream was encrypted, I was just seeing "...token..." or thing like that.

I formatted and installed Ubuntu 18, the network is clean now.

I'm pretty sure I add some kind of malware, I have no idea what it was, it's very suspicious.

Not being ironic, I really like his website. Brutalism amateurs should take a look http://fultonhistory.com/ That is the perfect example (on desktop), no regard for the design, still perfectly functional (including back button etc..).

Edit: just noticed the use of jAlbum for the gallery. Just adding +1 to nostalgia :)

Re:GitHub down on Thursday January 11, 2018 @10:33AM (#16124580)
No way to build my npm dependencies. So the day github would really crash/lost some files, the package decency system thing is dead. That is a very exciting scenario... as exiting as if google would forget to renew google.com and would have no legal right to get it back.
Re:Angular 5.2 Now Available – Angular Blog on Wednesday January 10, 2018 @04:30PM (#16119261)
You own a downgrade + a response :) Angular doesn't have to be cool to works. It's a mature framework. I find it very useful and I can do anything with it by now. Since it's ok with object oriented concept, and still actively backed by google, it will stay attractive in enterprise, most than any other js framework.
Re:Angular 5.2 Now Available – Angular Blog on Wednesday January 10, 2018 @04:21PM (#16119182)
You can transpile with fusebox or ionic cli if angular cli is the problem. For my next project I will use fuseboz with lazy loading (currently I use ionic)
Re:Angular 5.2 Now Available – Angular Blog on Wednesday January 10, 2018 @03:41PM (#16118867)
I use it in prod since 1 year yes.

Angular is totally ready to be use in prod since a long time now.

Very easy to update:

2-> 4 no gap but my project was starting

4-> 5, very few things on a already big project. In my case the HttpModule, and some internationalization adjustment.

Re:Flexbox and Grids: your layout’s best friends on Monday November 06, 2017 @03:36PM (#15638792)
When using conditionnal arrival of dom object (I mean like using ngIf in Angular or simply using switching display none/block on some block) flexbox layout seem very difficult to anticipate. For that kind of things I still prefer using inline-block, that is more predictable.

A tip: Strangely Safari tend to need flex-basis value everywhere

49000 the house. SO lucky
Totally agree with the message

But I dont understand why people nowaday need to bring wiseness from Einstein.

If someone is good in physic, that is not a proof by itself that he is right in other fields. Same thing with rich people. Why people trust more someone who have the opportinity/chance to successfully win big amount of money? I mean that is impressive but still?

Both the scientific an the rich deserve more respect than others actually, but it is not a reason to treat them as gurus

Re:Why I use Object Pascal on Tuesday October 17, 2017 @09:14AM (#15490608)
In my university (in Paris) we used to learn programming that way for the licence degree

1st year -> pascal only

2nd year -> c only

3d year -> java only

That was a very nice learning curve for the core course of programming.

Re:Five minute guide to better typography on Saturday October 07, 2017 @07:41PM (#15426281)
That's some brutalist website for sure
I made exactly the same move.

I can recommend K9 as the best self-control app.

I use it with recommended settings + any social media. I thinking about adding linkedin to the list. Maybe one day Hacker news also :)

I now use a basic phone after years using a iphone.

You know why?

I had some jobs interviews 2 years ago, and I had many problem to answer basic questions. I felt a so powerfull programmer.. But my memory was not as strong that I though.

I remember how it was before, when I was in my university. I used to know how to learn new things. And at 34 I cant think its just age. I think that google already hi jack a part of my learning process...

I can't work without google or searching SO time to time but I will for sure stop using social media, and I will try more and more to learn like I used to. Like watching video and taking note on a real paper.

But for next generations that is a real problem I think

What's the point?
Re:Yes, We Get Wiser with Age on Thursday September 28, 2017 @07:56AM (#15356427)
Not only evangelical.. "The wisdom only enter the wise" (Talmud approved!) As I understand this one, one would "intellectually" work on itself to get a "emotional" wisdom as the reward of his aging process. Personally I feel more and more angry with time, I suppose it is not a good thing.
Re:The end of Framework Churn on Monday September 18, 2017 @04:02PM (#15279018)
You can downgrade me as you want... That would be better to tell why it is a good news for developers? That is a new pain in my life, that it. Like if life wasn't already difficult like this.
Re:The end of Framework Churn on Monday September 18, 2017 @02:37PM (#15278353)
This is totally a shame.

I'm watching the conference where there are saying that "that is not yet another frameworks" but come on, that IS TOTALLY A NEW JS FRAMEWORK.

Let tell to a recruiter that you work 3 year on angular 1, 2 year on angular 2, but no really you feel you are ready for web component but you already failed your job interview, because you are a distancied old programmer working on old'good angular 4.1.3

Guys at ionic, you should work to correct your current version totally buggy (I know what I say, I will soon release my first app that I worked 5 month full time on)

Next time for sure I will stick with angular cli and a naked cordova

how do you can use it in angular (2)?
Re:What Happened to Gaza’s Apollo Statue? (2014) on Tuesday September 12, 2017 @04:47AM (#15225784)
I just respond because in 1 sentence people could thinks bad thing against me. My post is very sarcastic but the message is not racist at all. We are ok that we all big person and that racial consideration are dead, and should be totally vanish from our educated point of view. Now I know that it's not politicly correct but here are the idea that I defended in my previous sentence:

All nationalism are dangerous, and if in Europe nationalism and racism died in the WW2, the current nationalism and arab pride is a total mess for the vulnerable people of these countries. Count how many jew lived in arabs country. Millions? How many now? Question why? You have the response. When the educated and elite of these arab countries will lower the nationalism expectations of the people, their current bad governments will have less power, there will be more peace. Palestinian and all other, that is the same problem. I born in Europe and I clearly don't care from which country I'm from. I'm a post-natiaolism person. There should be the same, not literally raising their flag everything and every where, for anyreason.

Re:We’re Drowning in Tech Debt. Why Isn’t Anyone Listening? on Tuesday September 12, 2017 @04:27AM (#15225703)
Tech is time, time is money. There always an ajustement tech-money. You can't promoting new tech or refactoring without looking contingencies. What you need is just a circular graph. Who can be a vicious circle or a virtuous cycle, depending who is in charge.
Re:Betting on the Web – Why I Build PWAs on Monday September 11, 2017 @02:10PM (#15220703)
I use "ionic-app-scripts" (@ionic/app-scripts) for watching the change. It's what is used by ionic cli I think. Since the recent update to webpack 3 things are better but I still loss my focus on each build :) In fact I just checked and it's around 1 minute to finish the watch process, but many time consecutively, it become worse.

When I only update scss that is very quick indeed. The start process is very quick also.

For the router, things have became messy when I tried nested ion-nav. A method is deprecated (getRootNav) and the new is not even ready to use! (getRootNavById)

I post many issues on github. Still using ionic router (no other choices now, but by using tricks like events), and ionic cli for building, some buttons also, and I avoid anything else.

ion-menu was too buggy on ios, I had to make a menu by myself

The general quality on ios is very poor

Some plugins are great but I have bizarre issues... Keyboard plugin for exemple, I had to "ngZone" it to make it work.

Using the grid was too verbose and too buggy also. I design everything in flexbox now. It fells that ionic is trying to build a good WYSIWYGs editor with ionic creator but making developpers "beta-testing" their frameworks (sorry to complain after a open source project)
