Starting therapy. It's been amazing to help overcome anxiety that was holding me back for years.
Sebastian Lague has some great vids on Unity https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmtyQOKKmrMVaKuRXz02jbQ

IF you haven't already, change passwords and check your accounts for filters that would send change of password emails to the hijacker.
http://ponoko.com also allow you to create prototypes from your designs
Re:Ask HN: Ideas For Implementing A Simple Web App? on Friday December 09, 2011 @12:58PM (#3334706)
I've tried languages and frameworks that my friends use because I can throw questions at them

With all the Q+A and documentation sites that exist, that might not be as big an issue.

Re:Ask HN: How many entrepreneurs are also atheists? on Saturday December 03, 2011 @04:45AM (#3307394)
I think people are very good at compartmentalising conflicting beliefs.

There are plenty of people who are pleasant, productive members of society who believe things that are absolutely ridiculous ( religious and non-religious alike )

For me the whole point of working out is to take a complete break from the computer.

I do some martial arts twice a week ( jiujitsu )

Other than standing and stretching at regular intervals, I don't think it's productive to try and do both at the same time.

vBulletin has run a lot of big forums and finding someone who has experience skinning it should be easy.

Re:Ask HN: What API to the physical world do you wish existed? on Saturday September 24, 2011 @01:56PM (#3033853)
google search on books - on the back cover.

I'd like a digital wall paper on my walls so that I could change how my walls look every day.

Re:Jerry Seinfeld’s Productivity Secret on Saturday September 24, 2011 @10:29AM (#3033289)
Is there a way to abstract this into a service that has an api ?

You could setup your daily goals and the Tenacity API ( a name just invented http://declancostello.com/tenacity-api/ ) could be updated by different clients.

Tenacity could check an RSS feed to see if you've blogged every day ( like yahoo pipes )

It could parse an email sent to a custom address ( like idonethis )

Flashcard Software like anki could have a plugin that would access the API

twitter hastags, github checkins etc.

It would provide you with a dashboard of all the things you care enough about to be doing every day.

I'm not sure I'd like it to email me like facebook when I've missed some goals, but it might be a productive option.

I don't have the mojo to develop anything like this but would it interest other developers?

Re:Ask HN: Online music store related legal matters on Saturday August 06, 2011 @05:50PM (#2855014)
I'm interested in distributing subtitles online but am also at a loss to know where to start.

I think the problem is that there are so many different owners and licensers of content that there's no one way to get rights for content.

The problem only gets multiplied by the number of different countries, each having their own laws.

what languages / frameworks do your friends use?

Use that and ask for their advice.

I hate when I get email newsletters from do-not-reply addresses.

If I have a question or suggestion based on what I just received I'd like to be able to just hit reply and let them know.

I'm happy to get genuine ( non-automated ) questions from sites but don't make me jump through hoops to give my answers.

Re:Ask HN: Learning other (non-programming) languages? on Monday July 11, 2011 @07:23AM (#2750217)
The more you study the better you get so try http://alljapaneseallthetime.com

There's some great posts about methods and motivation on that from someone who learnt Japanese in about 18 months.

This might be a great idea for a few days but trying to do 15 hour days for 3 weeks is too much.

Do weekend sprints where you can tell friends and family that you're going away / working on something but you can return to a normal existence afterwards. Maybe rent a hotel suite instead of paying to go to HK.

Surely anyone with disposable income will just register everything they see here in the hope that they'll be worth more than the $10 registration fee?
Re:Anyone in the UK using the Long Week to start a startup? on Saturday March 05, 2011 @03:36PM (#2292339)
I'm practically unemployed and don't give 2 hoot about long weekends or royal weddings - so I'm in :)

Great idea.

Re:Yes, The Khan Academy is the Future of Education on Sunday February 13, 2011 @02:29PM (#2213583)
the video linked above does show the view from the web app part of Khan academy which has a map showing the progression from one topic to the next.

As far as I could see each set of questions allows you to watch associated videos and also links to the prerequisites.

I'll go and investigate :) brb

Re:Poll: How do you get physical exercise? on Friday February 04, 2011 @06:39PM (#2181843)
Bujinkan (japanese budo, similar to jujitsu ) I've been in more than one school and the most recent puts a big emphasis on fitness, with fitness tests every few months. Depends on the teacher/dojo more than the art, I reckon.
