News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

Here's the clip. The Daily Show also had fun with it on Monday.

There were lawful procedures for putting people onto trains to Poland. Lots of paperwork and rubber stamping.

Of course the public didn't find out what was going on in Auschwitz until the end of the war.

You don't deserve to live in a free country.
He has revealed criminal hacking of civilian infrastructure in Hong Kong.

"Snowden said secret and illegal attacks on Hong Kong computers by the US National Security Agency, which he said had been taking place since 2009, had recorded a success rate of more than 75 per cent. One of the targets he identified was the Chinese University of Hong Kong, home to the Hong Kong Internet Exchange - a central hub of servers that most web traffic in the city passes through."

"Political pressure is mounting on the government to demand answers from the United States over how and to what extent Hong Kong has been targeted by Washington's top-secret cyberspying programme, exposed by whistle-blower Edward Snowden."

"During an official visit to London, Legislative Council president Jasper Tsang Yok-sing became one of the city's first top political figures to comment on the hacking allegations.

"Hong Kong people will feel worried if the allegations are found to be backed by facts," Tsang told the BBC's Chinese Service, adding: "The Hong Kong government should launch an investigation."

"What will the government do to ensure it will not happen again? Will it take action against the US government or demand remedies?"

Order-Order is a good site to catch up on gossip and rumors about MPs.
Do you have any evidence to back up your first paragraph? Anything that has stood up in a court of law? Or are you just regurgitating talking points you've heard from the mainstream press?
He can't be a traitor and extradited for treason... because treason doesn't exist in Hong Kong's basic law.

Nonsense.

Michael Savage is still banned apparently. He was raging about it the other day.
This is to garner local support.

A HK legislator is backing Snowden because civilian infrastructure in HK has been hacked. This is a criminal offence and must be investigated.

There will also be a rally in HK to support Snowden on Saturday.

Re:Reddit co-founder on NSA snooping [video] on Friday June 14, 2013 @11:19AM (#5880386)
This is the biggest story in tech, period.

This is about the revealing of a surveillance state that the Stasi and Gestapo would have wet the bed over.

I'm glad that people on Hacker News have their priorities straight and these NSA stories are rising to the top rather than some banal discussion over the color of iOS 7 icons.

You've just been added to the "List".
The BBC publish this rubbish and allow comments (heavily moderated) because it is in the interest of the establishment.

When Lee Rigby was murdered, every article on the BBC and across most British newspapers had comments turned off. Public discussion was curtailed.

Internet surveillance has nothing to do with the Woolwich killers. They were already known to MI5 and had been tracked for years. Instead of putting these people in prison, MI5 actually offered one of them a job as an informer.

Of course we don't want pre-crime... but it's curious how pre-crime is allowed when it comes to arresting protestors before they actually protest the Royal Wedding or just a few days ago in London where a house was raided because people were planning anti-G8 protests.

It's a pure coincidence, of course, that of all the white collar criminals, the guy who refuses to help the NSA gets found out.

Just like it's a pure coincidence, of course, that of all the people out there hiring escorts, Elliot Spitzer gets rumbled.

I haven't seen 20,000 documents reported anywhere, or perhaps I just missed it. Do you have a link to an article mentioning this? Thanks.
You can't see the wood for the trees, can you?
Very naive. Perhaps the CEOs are lying in order to avoid going to prison on trumped up charges?

"In 2006, USA Today published an article that revealed that Verizon, AT&T and BellSouth (since acquired by AT&T) were voluntarily providing the NSA with millions of call logs. It also said another landline provider, Qwest (since acquired by CenturyLink), refused to hand over logs without a warrant, and that the NSA had rejected Qwest's insistence that the matter go before the FISC.

In 2007, former Qwest CEO Joseph Nacchio was convicted on 19 counts of insider stock trading. During an appeal, Nacchio's lawyers claimed the charges were retaliation for Nacchio's refusal to go along with the warrantless surveillance program while he ran Qwest."

If the tech companies have been slandered unfairly, why don't they sue the Guardian?
You're missing the big picture.

The truth that has spread around the world is that there is a surveillance system in the US which spies on Americans.

If you feel journalists have misinterpreted the capabilities of the system, feel free to call the PRISM hotline for clarification and tell us what you find out.
