Re:We're releasing the weights of Mistral Large 4 on Thursday October 29, 2026 @11:04AM (#50290261)
Mistral has been great for us as a provider for our EU-based company. We use Mistral Large 4, GLM 5.3 Flash and DeepSeek v4.1 Flash 1017 through their API for our B2B2C app for complex work around building blocks for documents and custom tools. A few months ago we weren't sure which EU provider to use, but since they introduced 3rd party models, added more features (now Responses API etc.) and improved their own model, we are quite happy-

The new model is amazing. Had it build a full Angular Material & CDK components showcase via DeepSeek Harness and it easily did the best job of any recent models I've seen.

NPUs are meant for tiny, tiny models that can run basically at all times but cannot affect battery life (e.g. translation, live-video cleanup, filesearch etc.), not for big LLMs. This is about 500 times to large for a NPU.
Re:Gemini 4 Argon on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @12:34PM (#50074497)
hahaha. I also build a site (also using Gemini 4 Argon) that makes the data more accessible: https://www.dmh.dev/voynich
Re:Gemini 4 Argon on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @12:29PM (#50074387)
It's a great model. I have had it trying to decrypt the Voynich manuscript for the past couple of days without being biased by other research/other people's attempts. If anyone is interested: https://github.com/d2kx/voynich-research
Re:Show HN: Germany's new sovereign AI model Kolibri on Saturday October 03, 2026 @09:19AM (#49944029)
German here. We are cheering for Mistral, which is making some good moves before the year is over, and Black Forest Labs for non-coding. But that's about it.
Usually I am the one making fun of people who have been claiming that "the new update made everything buggy and slow and reduced battery life" with every update for the past 15 years, but this time this one's actually real and hitting my base Pixel 8 hard. Hopefully the October update fixes it.

My wife got into a car accident.

On a sunday.

I didn't go to the hospital.

I had a client, and a project.

Ready to go.

MongoDB has been a good database for years.
But is MongoDB's stock web scale?
No, ASML is not lying about ASML's business developments.
The rumours of our demise have been greatly exaggerated and will continue to do so.

Ironically enough Google Antigravity added plan mode this week.

Maybe he is, but you are quoting Amit Sahai, the author of this blog post.
God I love the Qwen team. Easily the most diverse set of models from all the Chinese labs. Only Gemini/DeepMind comes close.

> Alibaba Cloud subscriptions are hard to come by

no they aren't. they discontinued their always-sold-out coding plan and launched QwenCloud (basically a friendly frontend with Alibaba Cloud as the hidden backend) and launched typical subscription plans for Qwen & co alongside it.

Modafinil has been a lifesaver for me for over a decade, but always great to have more options for medium ADHD.

Re:The worthlessness of Vitamin D is mildly exaggerated on Tuesday June 23, 2026 @06:32PM (#48652420)
Probably heavily depends on the country/region, but here in Germany it is basically the norm to be Vitamin D deficient. Like, half of the population have a deficiency when there is some sun and basically everyone has a deficiency for months during fall/winter/spring. So I have to laugh when I read "taking vitamin D does nothing unless you’re severely deficient". Yeah like, but that's most people in many countries lmao

You're literally commenting on the article that announces its general purpose availability. ...
When using AWS, the GraphQL client in AWS' Amplify library is also nice if one doesn't need offline/caching support.
