In my scenario, the only way anthropic and openai are profitable entities if they directly absorb the capacities of the companies, the same way Amazon "basics" exist to absorb the generic consumer product levels.

I'm not pointing out they'll take your secrets and sell them to the competition. I'm pointing out they will _be_ your competition. The same way Amazon basics competes with it's business interests.

it's actually fascinating that so many corporations are just willing to give up their entire intellectual properties, real & imagined, to a third party because it might let them remove a percent of their work force. Especially when told "it can do it", and they dont fill in the "without you".

I've no doubt, Palentir's forward deployed engineers will essentially operate like the borg and turn companies into defacto subjugated properties.

Inthink finetuning and prompts and intermediary engineering harnesses all obscure idependent verificant of raw LLM capability.

So yes, they probably spend half theor budget trying to keep suspension of disbelief.

Digital eugenics, phrenology, etc. Humans constantly think they can identify a optimum fit function for humans in society. Because thats easier making a society optimum for everyone.

This is no different. Its like a single ant trying to redefine what a ant is. Typically with catastrophic results.

Not intellectually.
ok, but the valid business prop is to be a dependent on anthropic, indistinguishable from just being a second class citizen, since your entire networth can't be extracted from anthropic.

Go nuts with it, but we're at the SciFi dystopia test with: how do mega corporations even form? Well, this is certainly the plausible reality, they just start aggregating random income streams because their product is essentially the only thing that makes the business profitable. Without it, it can't compete.

Hopefully this sounds skeptical, but I don't see how you can have an independent business and be entirely dependent on third party for your operations.

Deer flow and opencode are useful, also open viking.

I think you really just have a bad metric for "worth" here: https://salary-converter.com/blog/articles/teacher-salary-vs...

Look at the adjusted COL numbers. Whatever you think they're paying money for, it's not the people directly responsible for teach children.

This is intentional degradation of communities.

yeah, if only they could also force them to eat, and force them to live in equitable communities where the schools arn't starved of resources via private property interests.
Yeah, and constituents have given power to the dumbest people alive in America.

Anyway, schools in many states are funded by property taxes; when properties arn't owned by the people going to the school, that school degrades. So essentially, the more wealth "creation" happens via property ownership, the worse the schools become.

The idea this has anything to do with DEI other than the poverty via racism that had white people cementing pools in the 60s is dense and myopic.

isn't it closer to the internet is owned by business interests, even though most of it was built out by the public and it was just slowly moved into the hands of people who don't care particularly about how it's secured.
Re:Ask HN: Which TV do you recommend for privacy? on Monday November 02, 2026 @10:06AM (#50337792)
no, because that's free. Anyone can show up. In America, one party specifically works to prevent people from voting.
The problem is the ironic "home grown" or "internal" security. These external attacks come after decades of fertilizing far right white politicians whose sole purpose is to dither any directed anger.

Brexit was the first to burst and despite their support of Ukraine, can at any moment capitulate to the ghost of nationalism and delusional escapism that is "white power". Americas on the verge of sinking further into the same. With those two entirely preoccupied, of course europe is next and already has the same underlying current.

Re:Ask HN: Which TV do you recommend for privacy? on Monday November 02, 2026 @07:09AM (#50335750)
voting with your wallet isn't going to change the world unless you're a billionaire looking to open up thousands of tv lounges.
I find most software has 90% more features than I need.

If i can take a 5% software and add the 5% i need, why would i not.

Theres certainly a ingrained value prop to everyone knowing excel, but if i just use it to twiddle the same formulas, then why do i need excel.

This basically sorts everyone into wizards or people without need if magic.

The idea that everyone needs to be a wizard was convenient SaaS sales tactic and business largesse.

AI allows more powerful wizards to enable better fit tailored software. It doesnot need to make everyone wizaeds. The same way excel never made everykne VBA programmers.

Re:AGI Economics: Coordination vs. Competence on Sunday November 01, 2026 @09:22PM (#50332360)
From what I can tell, subagents are used to paper over poor context and cache management. In my local model constrained environment, figuring out a rolling compaction and eviction procedure in the optimum context size seems the best goal for the agent.

Once I've got that, then likely there's just going to be an infinite agent loop that adapts to whatever the current needs are.

So far I've gotten up to about 6 million tokens in a constrained max 128k window before something shits the bed. Still working on it.

Subagents have some place still, but I think you're right in that they're papering over a tool use problem. For larger labs, they're primarily a resource reduction, where smaller context models can be tied to equipment with a reverse proxy load balancer. For large context agents, you can't use a load balancer, your context must live on a single hardware device.

So while I agree you can optimize a single agent, what's forcing subagents at the cloud providers is the reality of load balancing.

Facebook did that also with shadow profiles and scanning peoples contacts. You cant have privacy if your friends give up theirs.

But...thats the point of governments and unions.

Anyone building products on cloud models is building in a swamp, a sand trap, a flood zone.

Anyone whose buainess wont be competitivw without a cloud model is going to lose their business.

Any government letting cloud models consume its private infrastructure is yielding its authority to private intetests.

I hazard a better reasoning: The walled garden made it's users too valueable to not sell out to whatever forces it can find.

Apple is deeply in this camp; all it takes is one MBA's desire for bonuses to break the damn.

Corporations in unregulated waters are only as solid as the last captain.

The problem with this statement is no one will be able to tell if it's satire or not.

I recommend people not recreate cult language as satire.

Re:ChatGPT and Codex usage limits merging on Sunday November 01, 2026 @09:29AM (#50326048)
you probably misunderstand how some people, including the labs, are using these devices.

It's not how you are using them. They're setting up complex agent->subagent webs that exponentially consume tokens, and "vibe" coding things via 5-10-100 agents just scaffolding whatever. There's no amount of human information that would stop that.

The problem with tokens isn't that they can't track it, it's that the labs can seemingly change it's definition anywhere in the stack regardless of what it technically means to the LLM you are using.

Re:A 90% Chance of AI Saving Humanity on Sunday November 01, 2026 @09:14AM (#50325906)
it all the same dumb p(doom) scifi fantasies. These people went through school without any humanities; got jobs that paid them more than the mode of poverty in America and instead of facing the singularity of wealth creation, they'd rather imagine they're doing something that might help some unnamed person at an unnamed time in the future than look at whats actually happening to real people right now, today, in their neighborhoods.

That's essentially what "effective altruism" does to these people.

Re:ChatGPT and Codex usage limits merging on Sunday November 01, 2026 @09:04AM (#50325809)
I know what I paid for: hardware and whatever value became of the global ingest of all our best software developers so atleast as we tell everyong: fuck your license, I actually have the freedom they might've wanted from it.
Re:Why Anthropic's filing crushed tech stocks on Saturday October 31, 2026 @06:06PM (#50320721)
Yesyes, not funding a better society is myopic. We should totally expect the rich to be altruistic once they have enough cash.
Tax software exists because a select set of politicians want you to hate doing taxes. It's complexity is intentional, and baked in with the business of selling software to "make it easier".

America is a fat sloth of an economy and generates value by doing nothing and letting capitalists then own the shit out come.

Tell people still using X: You are a problem.
Theyre already here. Theyre slower, but if you have 128GB And watts+time, you can so it.

Imvestors should be better. We dont need new models to do this, its now the hardware cartel propping up prices. Break that dam and moats gone Sam.

Nvidia, openai, anthropic; they know it now. 1 "frontier" model is for the 1%. Is equal to 10 models for ths majority.

Its not stealing if its for private equity purposes.
