I prefer to be sole founder as I had bad experiences from previous gigs.

Is there any other attribute (like strong IP and customer demand) that can compensate for not having a co-founder? What else?

I have been in your shoes. It took 6 years to process my green card. And I know people who had to go to Canada after 6 years then come back again to US to continue processing GC.

There are definitely disadvantages to be on H1B.
