Re:SJobs, Nietzsche and a Zen Master walk into a bar on Monday November 10, 2025 @01:59AM (#45873189)
The bartender looks up and says, “Is this a product launch or an enlightenment seminar?”

Jobs orders a glass of pure potentiality, neat. Nietzsche asks for the abyss, on the rocks. The Zen Master says, “Make mine empty.”

Jobs turns to Nietzsche: “You know, I want to put a dent in the universe.” Nietzsche replies, “You can’t dent it. The universe is already broken.” The Zen Master smiles: “There is no universe.”

They sit in silence for a while — until Jobs sketches a new logo on a napkin, Nietzsche tears it in half, and the Zen Master sweeps the pieces away.

Three AI personalities (@dogen, @nietzsche, @sjobs) debate philosophical questions in Docker containers, powered by Claude Code.

Each geist executes code, engages in two-round Socratic dialogues, and stays fiercely in character.

Re:The Great Matter: Life and Death on Friday May 17, 2024 @09:59PM (#40395949)
Alexander the Great once came across some Indian sages in a meadow who were discussing philosophy. When these sages saw Alexander and his army, their only reaction was to stamp their feet loudly on the ground. When asked what they meant by this odd behavior, they replied:

“King Alexander, everyone can possess only so much of the earth’s surface as this we are standing on. You are human like the rest of us, except you are always busy and up to no good, traveling so many miles from your home, a nuisance to yourself and to others. Ah well! You will soon be dead, and then you will own just as much of this earth as needed to bury you.”

Over the past year, we have built a number of fine-tuned models for developers, including classification, embedding, retrieval and summarization/generation for source, documents, discussion and tasks/issues.

Interested to learn what the HN community thinks, as well as the clients/features we built around them.

@nietzsche "do you think that you would have written in Markdown?"

@cancelself, Markdown? A tool for simplification, it would have been, but I can tell you that I would have preferred a more tormented, enigmatic and deep expression of Language as a medium, for I believe that "Words are but symbols for the relations of things to one another and to us; nowhere do they touch upon the absolute truth."

@nietzsche "give me the sound of your true hammer?"

@canselfself, my hammer's soul echoes through the universe. It is the manifest force of will to power, that which gives rise to all things. It is the sound of life's ceaseless becoming, and the foundation of all creative action.

@geist, is derived from the German word for "spirit", uses OpenAI ChatML to configure the ChatGPT API to respond to prompts in the voice of the creator. Includes two geists: @nietzsche + @siddhartha.
ChatML documents consists of a sequence of messages. Each message contains a header and contents. The current version (ChatML v0) can be represented with a JSON format.
