I've always been the person who types an emoji into a form just to see what happens. Most of the bugs I've reported are really about data that my code assumed would look a certain way.So I built ChaosData. Give it a schema, and it generates realistic data with a few deliberate edge cases mixed in. Emojis where they shouldn't be, malformed strings, edge-case integers, etc. mysqldump --no-data...
I assume you have to be facing the server...
I mean, lots of numbers are near zero depending on your definition of near.
This is not how software works. Although I guess this isn't quite as catchy:
Assume all software is broken at all times. Constantly try to ensure it works and is secure. Sometimes updates break things. Test before production. Ensure test environments are similar to production. You're going to break things.
I think that's great for you. Truly.
Could it be that your experience doesn't apply to everyone?
I've been living in the same area as you, and I go for walks almost daily; it's astonishingly miserable out.
I have a friend who does almost identical physical activity to me, as we have similar jobs. He sweats very little when outside unless physically exerting himself. I sweat profusely when just walking; even when wearing significantly less clothing.
Why do you think tailored content will prevent you from exploring new territory? You are choosing the content.
I can't wait to watch the first entirely generated short film and create my own.
Are you saying you don't see the value in video generation? The potential for unlimited high quality and customizable content generation?
> set the baa for a new branch of quantum physics
I'll admit I got a few paragraphs in before that made it click.
Why is it that the author decided to write 'f-word' twice instead of just 'fuck'?
> Don’t listen to me, I don’t know anything about drugs. Obviously you’ll build up a tolerance over time and obviously it’s very bad to depend on a substance to perform.
Cool.
As someone on the same dose of Adderall/Vyvanse for 15+ years it's really hard to keep reading after this. Lots of people depend on substances to live. This article reads like it's trying to solve all psychological conditions with willpower.
I choose to interpret the post as saying "start small, and be consistent". If you were to tell someone to go for an
at least 30 minute walk every day many people would balk at you.
Start with a minute walk. Make time in your day for it. Extend to a 2 minute walk. 5 minute. 15 minute. Etc.
What if the first blind person was also deaf and just trolling the other blind person so wouldn't the second "Can you hear me?" be needed?
It's pretty hard for me to get past the very first sentence.
> Technology is supposed to make our lives easier.
Technology isn't supposed to do anything. Technology is a tool to be used. Anyone can use tools incorrectly. Lots of people do, including myself!
> Why would anyone put lots of people on a product that is mature and doesn't need a lot of work?
Nobody is suggesting anyone put 'lots of people' on a mature product. However, there are always things that need to be done.
Apps need to be updated for new devices, OS/library/security updates, and general bug reports to name a few. That's just on the app side, the same is true for any build pipelines/hosting infrastructure.
These apps don't run themselves regardless of how mature they are.
You're right in that fewer people are needed and I'm all for optimizing but what I feel like you're missing is that it's quite easy to over-optimize for cost at the expense of users.

Is there a standard way to tell customers where your webhooks will be coming from just in case they want to whitelist those IPs?If there isn't a standard what is the most common way? Docs? Some random URL with IP CIDRs in JSON?
It kind of is an ad for Temu. Please don’t check it out. Temu is internet cancer. It needs to be cut out.
Isn’t SMTP an API? Why would you pay or complicate things when you can just send email with libraries available in every language?
What’s wrong with the truth?
“Not bullish” implies either neutral or bearish, I think.
I'm confused by your sarcasm. A one-time physical mailing can be incredibly anonymous.
I mean, if you dig a bit deeper you'll find all life is just elaborate Rube Goldberg machines comprised of chemical interactions.
How did you forget tabs vs spaces!
> I don't think it's appropriate to make fun of someone seeking access to this medication.
As someone who takes daily medication, I didn't read the GP's comment as making fun. It seemed to just be a statement of belief.
I'll echo that. Also being married to a vet it's insane how little very qualified and experienced techs are being paid.

Craigslist has implemented this perfectly for years but I don't see a lot of other companies doing it. It makes a lot of sense that Craigslist doesn't need to filter / moderate messages between users as it just provides a way for them to communicate through email (mostly) anonymously.Creating such an email relay seems non-trivial so I'm curious if there are any open source or even paid products...
And nothing makes your heart sink faster than the rhythmic sound of trying over and over to read the same bad disk.
I don't understand why this isn't the prevailing philosophy. I'm over here Terraforming helm deployments and having no idea what is actually happening under the covers.
If your application and infra can magically utilize multiple zones with “a couple lines”… then I would say you are miles ahead of just about every other web company.
Yes, they do. I don't think it's the number of vet clinics that's the issue here though but rather the locations.
I feel like your comment is going to get some hate and I realize medication isn’t for everybody but it’s the primary reason for my career being moderately successful.
I’ve been on basically the same dose for 15 years now and while it’s hard to say what my life would have been like without it I’m not sure I would have held a job for very long.
The best glimpses I get are like right now when I’m preparing for bed my thoughts are everywhere. I remember vaguely how easily distracted I was and how I self medicated a bit with alcohol.
Anyway, it works for me! I’m sure others have strategies that work for them.
