Pretty neat. I primarily use Safari - any chance you can also get an extension there?
This is a weird argument. Dreamweaver, a tool that abstracts away coding from the builder, is better than LLMs, a different to that abstracts coding from the builder, because you’ll hit a wall with Dreamweaver as the project gets too complex and you’ll realize you aren’t actually that good. I don’t know if this person has ever used LLMs but there is way more complexity you can wall yourself up in than Dreamweaver, making it easier than ever to realize you aren’t any good.
Body count is the Gen Z/TikTok terminology to describe how many sexual partners a person has.
Sorry, I’m confused - you didn’t know you have had sex with 77 partners before you made this app? I’m missing some key aspect of this service that allows you to remember something you have forgotten or are unaware of. Was the data written down somewhere else and you exported it into this app?
The vibe coded comment comes from the repetitive sections on the homepage (at least on mobile) and the use of React Lucide iconography. In every vibe code endeavor I’ve attempted, Lucide is the tool it always reaches for, whether I prompt it to create icons or not.
In terms of your question about privacy, I’m not the person to ask. I don’t care about body count and I can’t speak to what people who care about body count care about. It seems like an immature thing to keep track of, but that’s only my opinion. Maybe tap into more immature concerns people would have, like what your body count ranking is in your city/region/continent, adding a feature where you gain or lose status based on how frequently or infrequently you have sex with a new person and streaks for avoiding STDs or pregnancies. Make it as open as possible and tag actual people who are in the app for verified encounters. At the end of the day, people who care about body count tend to be loud about it.
Finally, the graphs look cool and the visualizations are well done from a technical standpoint, but there’s a grossness factor to all of this I can’t dismiss. Again, I’m not the target audience, but this feels like an app created by TikTok on-the-street interviews. I hope you all the success though.
From an implementation standpoint, this is great! Definitely had a vibe coded feel to it, but I don’t have a problem with it. In terms of the service, I don’t understand the hyperfixation on privacy. It’s just tracking sexual encounters? I’ve probably had less than 15 sexual partners in my life and not really concerned with keeping track of it nor am I in a place where the actual number matters to me.
Clearly I am not the target demographic, but it seems like people who care about their body count don’t care about keeping it private. I haven’t done any research on this to know though. Good luck.
Seems like a lot of steps but I have been looking for something like this. I want to read articles but I don't want the overhead of an internet connection distracting me. Seems like it's worth a shot.

Looking at the headline, I thought “well duh.” But getting into the post I realized this is a good outlook. I’ve come to realize many factors go into internal and external success for people, including time, place, personality, innate skills and attitude.
I’ve found after trying and failing at many processes to 1) be willing and deliberate about trying new stuff and 2) drop stuff that isn’t working as quickly as possible.
Additionally, I’m trying to get better at saying something didn’t work _for me_ when it fails to stick, versus discouraging others to try it.
Neat! Would love to see some cues to get the searches going and make it stick as a better resource off the bat. Maybe a “Try searching…” that shows some complicated buzzwords. I ended up racking my brain and searching “bernoulli random variable” (binary random outcome) and then really liked the fun result for “linked list” (nodes holding hands). Great work! I’ll try to use this!
Yes, I always imagined this being just a silly exercise in pulling out a finite outcome from infinity. It’s not meant to be provable or disprovable, just hard to comprehend because we cannot think in infinite terms.
Relatedly, I wrote an essay that covers this a few years back: https://medium.com/@beadey.teigh/typewriters-29309c8e3b71
Thanks all! It was insightful to read your discoveries. I’m excited to look into the books and articles you shared. I appreciate all the wisdom shared.
I think this is a good rule to live by that I should incorporate. I fear that energy I spend on people who just aren’t into me will leave me bitter and reluctant to spend that energy on others, which will have compounding effects as I get later into life. Giving myself a firm limit of energy spent will help ensure it persists longer.
Can you expound on this a bit? It seems that it’s realistically pursuing relationships that only seem as if they are moving in a reciprocal direction, otherwise move on as quickly as possible.
Probably less than 50% of the time. So I’m in the “mostly rejected” category.
For my specific situation, these are some profound questions and ways to frame my outlook. Thanks for your wisdom.
Interesting, thanks for the rec. I’ll seek this book out

Pretty much just the title. As a very small, but highly frequent example, I’ll invite an acquaintance to get a coffee or beer with me a few times but never have this acquaintance seemingly think of me if I’m not directly asking them to hang.I can’t really figure out why. Maybe I’m a boring person? Maybe I’m abrasive? Maybe most people like to stay in a perpetual state of acquaintance-ness?How do...

There's some weird happenings on my block lately and I wanted to be more proactive about the security of my house. However, I don't quite trust Nest or the other top brands of video monitoring. Looking for options that people trust. What has worked for you?

I am applying for Georgia Tech's Online Masters of Science in Cybersecurity. I am wondering if any people who have completed the program or are currently in the program could weigh in on which required courses they enjoyed the most or paired well with their selected track as a Flexible Core course. For context, I am applying for the Information Security track and have been looking into other...
