Ask HN: Are linode IP blocks under yahoo block list

I have a website launched with linode. From past few days, I notice "Unfortunately, messages from xx.xx.xx.xx weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list."I opened a case with linode and they responded back very quickly:Hello,Thank you for contacting us. Unfortunately, we wouldn't have any additional information about why certain...

For lesson 7, question 4 [It's time to make your own! Let's do what we did before and bring i down from 2 to 0. This time, fill in the conditions in the for loop using what you learned before.], when I run into infinite loop, my browser gets stuck.

Just of curiosity, I would like to know whether that event affects the server badly, if I keep my browser open?

Ask HN: Parallel Algorithms for stock market analysis

I want to write a program, in which it takes the training data and generates the rules. I would imagine, it should be some combination of statistical analysis and some form of AI learning. But I am not aware of where/how to start. Can anyone show me a direction on parallel algorithms suitable for stock market analysis.

Ask HN: Mini hack help needed

Is there a hacky way to get the all company names from below link instead of looking at map and writing down their names?http://jtools.smartmoney.com/middleware/map/mapMarket.htmlFYI: It uses a horrendous amount of JavaScript which doesn't explicitly contain the companies info. It must be going off to a server to get the details for specified co-ordinates, which is very hard to untangle[for me].

Re:Ask HN: Need help with correlation [Finance] on Saturday November 27, 2010 @05:24PM (#1946040)
Thank you for the link. From your experience did you notice any immediate correlation between the sectors or any time delay? If there is some time delay, it might be a key feature to notice for short term trading, sounds right?

I was thinking to grab the data either from Yahoo finance or Google finance. If I remember right, it allows me to get data from past 5 years only. Do you have recommendation for any other resource?

Yep, exactly! Any thoughts on opposing this approach?

Ask HN: Job application

Hello all,I have been trying to get into job from past 5 months. After several trails of job applications I want to try this approach:I am willing to work to any company for 3 months in any technical position like coding, system admin, security, research or ... foo. If you are willing to pay my apartment rent + food [which I promise not be more than 750$ per month], I am ready to start hacking...
