Re:AirPods Causing Tinnitus? on Saturday March 04, 2023 @05:54PM (#35025318)
I recently got earasers, mainly to make it easier to hear people over music (I have auditory processing disorder), however I have found them just to muffle everything, making the music a good level, but speech unbearable.

Is this your experience?

Wondering because maybe I'm doing something wrong or maybe I chose the wrong level of them (I think I chose the regular EU level).

Do you have a source for that? I could only find this, which seems to say the opposite: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/218301/response/54314...

I've heard that you can write a cheque yourself on a piece of paper. I coudnt find much online about it except for this https://www.theguardian.com/notesandqueries/query/0,5753,-20.... Id go with a postal order to be safe, but could be fun to try a DIY cheque!
Re:Ask HN: How do you keep your personal servers secure? on Sunday January 01, 2023 @06:28PM (#34212285)
Good point about banks, however they also have teams of people monitoring for any potential issues!

Ask HN: How do you keep your personal servers secure?

I've found the best solution to be make the only network connection available to my servers be a VPN, with my servers not even able to initiate connections to the internet. My thought process here is that if my servers had malware on them, they could not exfiltrate any data. What do other people here do to keep their servers secure? I'm particularly interested how people manage log collection...
