You have to click on the page first because of how focusing works in Chrome (you start with focus on the browser chrome, not page).
FWIW, he did say "price in India", so I'm pretty sure it's in INR.
Don't mean to be a buzzkill here, but I don't think anyone with an ounce of a brain will find this funny, which I believe was the original intent.
How do you define high end? Because to me, and people in general out there, Apple
is (always) high end in the sense that they're about as high quality as you can get as far as these kind of devices go. They don't charge "high-end" prices for some of their devices, but price isn't the metric you judge something to be high end or not.
Of course, if high end for you means diamond studded or gold plated, then we have a different case here.
What licensing issues? It's your phone, your data. I don't think Apple gets to say what you get to do with your data on your phone. If it was on Apple's servers, maybe they would have a case.
Plus, it's data that Apple shouldn't have been storing (in its current state, anyway) in the first place.

Well, of course.
It has been argued for years that pitting Android against the iPhone is unfair because Android comes in so many devices at many price points whereas the iPhone is just that--the iPhone. There are just two models (the previous, and the current. It used to be just one until 2 years ago.), one hardware spec (with varying memory sizes, sure).
But that's the game Apple chose to play. They intentionally crippled themselves (even if they don't think so), so this is really a comparison of Apple's strategy vs. Google's strategy. And Google's strategy seems to be winning in some aspects.
I took the liberty of turning this into a userscript. Since I was running into trouble accessing global variables from the injected scripts, I forked Mr. Speaker's project and changed the relevant bits in the code.
Edit: Changed all my links to point to mrspeaker's master except the loader. Any changes he makes should get reflected automatically.

I think turning this into a userscript will play into the whole 'keep HN open all the time' better since you can just open HN, pin the tab and let the userscript work its charm.
Where did you get that? In my search of Apple's iOS HIG, I came across the exact opposite: Think Top Down [1], where Apple states that important information should be placed at the top "where it is most visible and easy to reach."
Can we try and not make up stuff?

The location of the slide, I guess, is to allow people to see their lock screen wallpaper. That's my stab at it, but who knows.

I think Qwiki's main website should have been linked here, not the story on TC.
I would vote up that one.
Absolute drivel.
In a year or so, when online music streaming becomes big (maybe) with Apple and Google both competing in the sphere, will you want Facebook to add a music streaming service as well?
How about a map service? Or an image or document format converter? People seem to use those a lot too.

Stepping away from the argument that Facebook is a direction-less fad that probably will become irrelevant in the coming years, they're fine how they are --- a big aggregator for your social activities on the web. There is no reason for them to start moving towards a kitchen sink approach.
The word is "asocial". I think she (his girlfriend) just mixed the two up. Many people do.
For dark schemes, Wombat (for Vim) would be better, in my opinion, which is based off Desert. Or even Twilight (for Textmate).
To OP: no, that's not too nice. Maybe if you were going for accessibility and high-contrast ...
If that's convenient for you, sure. But I think setting up a Github repo that I can watch will be easier for you and me (you do use Github, right?).
Otherwise I can check the code page once a week too; not really an issue.
I took the liberty of turning this into a userjs, for those of us who don't want to install an extension to run an extension in Chrome :
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/94618I'll try and keep it updated as much as I can.
The point of HN is also to have people with a little more sense than the average Joe tester.
You're giving feedback about the wrong thing. The point of this beta is clearly to improve the app, not his website. In fact, that's not even the app's own website (which is http://reederapp.com/). He's using his studio's.
Precisely. It's the same as hiring cheap designers and then when they do a bad job, conclude that you shouldn't outsource design work.
Programmers are no different.
I think there is a pretty big difference between knowing a medium, and knowing a medium's limitations. A is inclusive of B, but B doesn't need to be inclusive of A.
You might not know how to drive a car, but you know that a car can't fly.
Articles like these always bring up the question of "Should designers know CSS?" in my mind.
Denying a resource would also include denying benefits from that resource, right?
In that case, if you distribute say, a movie, for free without permission from the publisher, you're effectively "taking" his "money" that he would've earned from the display of his material in a controlled environment. Wouldn't that be stealing?
I'd really like people NOT to hit Apple's servers every 30 seconds on such a day if they can help it. Especially if someone goes all gung-ho and removes that timer altogether.
In that case it's a very badly titled piece.
A static icon change would achieve the same thing. You don't need animated icons for that.
To OP of this thread: It was another idle comment. The crux of the request was in boldface.
