You get what you pay for. How can they expect to get commitment and security on those sort of wages? How can they expect someone to resist a little temptation / extortion when they are paid breadlien wages? It is an insult. The majority of IT workers are unerpaid, but this is ridiculous.
Obviously hinting at something. Author is ex-Sun, disgruntled with Oracle. Oracle has been offering some open soruce stuff to foundations. Someone who knows more than me could probably elaborate.
In house IT staff are getting made redundant while this is going on. Contractors deserve to get what the market will pay - but it doesn't say much about planning and skills development at RBS does it.
Lot's of peopel do good business in low margin, high volume markets. There is no sense that HP is or ever will be a great software hosue. I hoep Autonomy survives...
How many times have you heard promsied of independence when an innovative software house is taken over by a a lumbering giant? I jsutdon't believe this.
Lot of money for Raytheon riding on this. Lot of kudos for UK governmetn as well. if they get taken to the cleaners by Raytheon, what chance have they got of controlling other IT suppliers who don't meet thier satisfaction?
How did he get to be an exec if that's the best he can do?

Agreed. I was trying to say that the develpers have talent and if Accenture can work with them, they can move them on to other projects. Also as Symbian declines the cvalue of the remainnig developers with Symbian knowledge goes up - good for themand good for accenture.
No price has been put on hte deal. looks like clever play by Acenture becuse as others have commmented, they get to be a preferred partner with NOkia on Windows mobile as well. Nokia may have shot itself in the foot again, losing loads of talent that it ends up hiring back from Accenture. That said, Nokia is in hte mess it is because the management and porbably the developers couldm't adapt quickly enough. Accenture will have to change that culture.
A massive influx of developer talent, but with a lot of baggage - a managemetn headache for Accenture but the developers will be worht more than the OS in the long run
Apparently the legal challenge was caused by The Cloud slipping down the google ranks... the perverse power of SEO?
Some interesting stuff in there
Where is the back up? Heads should roll
How many organisations could stand having thier emails trawled through though...
Another case of shooting themselves in the foot
Interesting analyst comment here - baisc thumbs up but Nokia warned not to become a box shifter. HArd to se how they will avoid it.
This is a really useful discussion on the potential pitfall of using Amazon's cloud service to run your Oracle apps.

you couldn't make it up. Can't these people write a contract and police it?
Amazing account. Full marks to Quantas pilots and Airbus basic design. Big questions about volume of data bombarding pilots, bigger qustions about Rolls Royce engines...
Good headline - made me read and made a good point
