Good luck! I'm not sure the US is the best destination at the moment, have you looked into Europe?

Hehe, the problem is that I work in the news business :) But yeah, definitely..

I Am So Tired

The world feels on the brink of another big war, has for years now. The 24 hours news cycle is depressing, it feels like there's a new disaster every day. Wars, assassinations, hungry, suffering or dead children, floods, forest fires, famine. Politics has descended into madness seemingly everywhere, the tiny glimmers of hope are few and far between. Nationalism, saber-rattling, glee for the...

Re:Heroku Outage on Tuesday June 10, 2025 @03:47AM (#44233865)
Same, can't log in and the support area needs a login... Not much fun to watch our pending queue grow and grow
Not sure if you're trolling, but there's a huge debate over exactly this kind of thing... e.g. see https://www.vox.com/artificial-intelligence/408786/ai-art-st...
No, thank you. I'd rather have real artists create real art :)
Great. More weapons and destruction.

Oh man, I read "NFT movie library" and was super confused because these cards are very much fungible... But a very cool project!

What @seanvelasco wrote about the dropdown, but also Switzerland has 4 official languages (with German having the largest amount of speakers) but it's displayed as French. Maybe separate the country from the language? Would also be helpful for expats :)
To chime in: Firefox on MacOS in darkmode makes "Enable this content?" text unreadable (white text on white background)
I disagree. We aren't telling kids "With your parents' socio-economic background and skin color you cannot become whatever you want.", after all.

Out of curiosity, what do you need different profiles for? Kids/SO?
You can change it yourself in the settings
Re:Strike: A web-based, 1-bit paint tool on Sunday May 03, 2020 @12:49PM (#23060153)
Does not work with Brave 1.8.86 (current) with Shields Up - JS errors for localstorage and precision. Works with Shields down. Would be nice to either still have it work but show a message maybe? Very nice otherwise!
ETH Zürich :)

But yes, no disagreement here.

There, I said it.

Damn... 27 myself and here I am, moving pixels around on web applications for customers that don't know what they want.
Switzerland: Down as well.
Re:The computer virus is born, November 10, 1983 on Monday November 16, 2015 @05:06PM (#10577589)
Inside the article there's a link to another article on the same page about the "Elk Cloner" Virus [1] with the title "1st computer virus is written, January 30, 1982". Which is only a little bit weird considering the linked article's title is "The computer virus is born, November 10, 1983".

It's been a while since I played the series, but what similarities exist there?
Re:Free cross-platform UI kit by Invision on Monday October 05, 2015 @05:34AM (#10330717)
Looks quite nice generally! Especially the line graph with the shadow is something I haven't seen before.

Sidenote: Would be cool if there were alternatives to the Photoshop and Sketch packages. On linux, both are not great to use.

Nice quote, but also wrong. The Swiss had tons of wars, both internally and externally [1] and provided many other countries' armies with their mercenaries [2]. Also, the cuckoo clock comes from Germany, specifically the Black Forest [3].

Full disclosure - I'm Swiss. As our history teacher put it: "The Swiss were always fighting, and if they weren't fighting each other they were hired by others and fought other Swiss mercenaries on the battlefield under different banners."

Re:Vivaldi – A new browser for our friends on Tuesday January 27, 2015 @12:34PM (#8954412)
511 points on HTML5Test [0] on Linux with Vivaldi. That's more than I get with Chromium (481) or Firefox (449). Vivaldi feels already quite nice but not finished (e.g. flickering of the preview images in vertical tabs when switching the tabs) and generally a tiny bit slower when changing tabs in comparison to chrome/chromium, my default browser at the moment.

Definitely keep it installed for now, probably won't use it daily.
