Ask HN: FIOS in NYC no install for 2 weeks – options?

was hoping to get some advice from people, I'm working remotely in NYC and moving apartments. I'm moving this week but Verizon says there are no technician appointments for 2 weeks. Any ideas on what I should do, I've even looked into NYC mesh to see if it could work for a period of time.

They can indeed censor, I think what the prior poster was saying is that if they choose to censor, their regulation changes.
I don't think it says games owned, it just says games... Maybe a recent change?
May not be exactly what your looking for but bolt VC posts some really interesting content around starting hardware companies. https://blog.bolt.io

Theres a whole series on the hardware process: https://blog.bolt.io/ideation/ https://blog.bolt.io/design/ https://blog.bolt.io/engineering/ https://blog.bolt.io/validation/

They also have a bunch of great posts on strategy and business models.

Super interesting.

I have a question on the main product - doesn't pushing the link to email just pass the password breach potential to the email provider?

definitely understand the reduction of attack vectors but does it not consolidate the risk?

if anyone is interested in this topic of how these things happen and the general lawlessness of the seas due to tragedy of the commons I highly recommend Outlaw Ocean by Ian Urbina
You might want to note that you can test it on the testnet. It looks like it works, i did it using ropsten testnet but the verbiage in the posting says mainnet regardless of if it is actually the mainnet.
why can you put in negative numbers as the amount?
this exists - localbitcoins.com
I would say it is not actually a mixer. The point you are making actually points more towards them being temp addresses for exchanges. More people entering the market on exchanges, higher volume in exchanges, higher volume in this tempwallet "mixer"
Yeah, this was my thought as well. 67% of all ETH transaction volume in a mixer seems pretty high, particularly when you consider the volume traded on each of the exchanges
>the U.S. Army approached MIT with a request: Can somebody build a powered device that can pull somebody up a rope, like Batman does?

does the gov't publish these requests?

Ask HN: Personal Website/Blog Options

I am going to create a personal website that also has a blog, some photos, and eventually maybe add a private space for friends to see non-public posts, invite me to events etc. (essentially like a fb replacement just for me).I am wondering about what thoughts you guys had on set-up. For example, Linode vs Digital Ocean vs AWS. Also Wordpress vs Joomla vs fully building myself.

I am a big fan of the bolt blog.

https://blog.bolt.io/

Its a hardware/hardware startup blog written by what looks like a full(ish) stack hardware VC.

Re:Coinbase Support on Hacked Accounts on Friday June 16, 2017 @10:26AM (#14569276)
Hey, sent you a note. Any help would be very much appreciated. The support team keeps telling me to just create a new account.
Thank you very much for this description. I did not understand the implications or effect the change had. My question is - as a number of exchanges operating in the US (polo, kraken, GDAX) require Id's or some form of verification, what changes are really required? New AML/Compliance departments?

Also will individuals P2P transmitting cryptocurrency have to perform these same checks?

Re:Coinbase is down on Monday June 12, 2017 @03:48PM (#14540451)
Same thing happened to me. I tried to log in, but the number on my account had been changed. Support has simply said to create a new account... But what about my holdings and bank account connection?

seriously coinbase?

Re:Coinbase is down on Monday June 12, 2017 @03:40PM (#14540358)
My coinbase account was hacked, phone number changed (2FA). It has my bank account hooked to it... Their resolution so far was to simply create a new account...

Coinbase Support on Hacked Accounts

So last night at 9:30 I got an email saying my 2FA was changed, I used SMS. Stupid, I know, I had set up GA but it was still defaulting to the SMS. Anyway, whilst freaking out for a few hrs, I tried to log in and saw the phone number had changed for 2FA. Not long after that, I got another email from Coinbase saying the original email was sent in error. Now, I am still locked out of my account...

Thanks for the link! Yes there are many ways, I always thought minutiae was most common/simplest. There are some interesting advancements also occuring in the optical tomography. [1]

Yeah, pretty much. It compares the minutiae[1] from the new scan against that from one, or multiple saved scans from registration.

Re:Why Chinatown Produce Is Cheap (2016) on Tuesday May 02, 2017 @02:10PM (#14248947)
Likely has something to do with scale. In particular they are able to keep a low or nonexistent administrative overhead.
A bit more expensive than what you are looking for, but I got the DIY (not built) 3D Robotics Y6 for $600 which runs the PX4/Ardupilot stack. I have been able to use it with ROS.
