What are some information I can get from request or browser through JavaScript to help me determine if the user is real or a bot?
One that I'm working on myself and too afraid to post publicly. The people on this site are not my target audience either.
ps. There's no one on it but me.
Working on a social network for neighbors. It's basically Reddit + craigslist, where subreddits are cities.
Need someone to help me solve the chicken/egg problem.

Looking for examples where someone has built something better, some kind of alternative to an already existing product where it failed because founders didn't have enough for marketing.

Do people actually click those icons? Should I build those into my blog?
It's possible you could just be looking for someone to motivate you. If that's the case, I'm in a similar boat, got a project, but I get lazy sometimes, I could use feedback to help me go forward but I can't find anyone to even look at my work.

For a project I'm working on I don't need a full blows design. Just guidance in some areas. Like, currently I just need a dropdown styled, but everyone I talk to think I have a whole site that I need done.
When creating spacial geography point in sql server, the longitude comes first (lng, lat). I always thought it would be latitude then longitude.
Interestingly, some points that I've inserted passed the validation, but later I realized the values were swapped when I tried to query nearest neighbor and the points were no where near.

Such a simple service does not require registration. Assuming you're mentioning this for reasons of logs/security/liability reasons, I'd probably just throttle. Maybe auto delete after 1hr after upload complete and no download attempts made, so server is always clean.
You want to send a file to a friend, maybe a word file, maybe a movie. So probably up to 4GB in size. Something that could be too big for email, or too large for imgur to not compress it (images).
I'd advertise my other products, so it would be a loss leader for me.

Thinking of making a simple site for sharing files. As easy as imgur, you drag-drop, upload, and get a link you can share. But with a twist - you can only download once, preventing most DMCA takedowns and illegal activities (movie sharing).
Yes, it will fail for other reasons.

This might be unpopular. There is no such thing as AI, there's only machine learning. Can intelligence even be artificial? So much misuse of this term.
Because the input variables are so different depending on your personal circumstances. Depending on how clever you accountant/tax professional is, you could be paying a very different amount in taxes/interest.
I might have misunderstood your question, as you didn't say which apps and how they suck. Then you start talking about UI and I get lost.
Mostly about how the UI sucks, which I agree with but I don't have a creative UX skills. I'm mostly a data/business logic person.
https://www.zipbash.com social network based on zipcodes. I was thinking it could be alternative to nextdoor where you can't post outside of your neighborhood. I also made registration optional, so you can post and comment anonymously. Also wanted to test out if people would pay $1/month for premium features I'd make in the future (private messaging...).
Anyway, most feedback I got was negative, so that's depressing. Maybe if I got proper feedback I could modify it for better.
I'm still working on it, there's a big change coming, not sure the outcome will be. Hopes.
Kindness doesn't solve this problem.

I just finished up a proof of concept I've been working on as my side project. It's a location based mini forum - you make a post and you pick a location for it, and there's tree style comments, simple. It's a bit cringy because there's no content and I've just crossed the milestone that let me host it. I'll be using it as my personal blog posting about things I wanted to talk about in my area...

Since you're not responsible for the content kinda (you can remove bad posts). Most you can really do is work on making the site architecture and usability better, but content is up to users.

If both I'd just use int as primary key, and short guid as unique indexed key.I like being able to get last n records if my primary key is int. At the same time I don't want to show to the public my auto incrementing int, I'd rather do a form of short guid. Reason is to prevent someone form randomly incrementing to next record or something similar. Most of my tables also have a created...
Honestly I don't know. I've been working on an ambitious project for the last 6 months fighting procrastination. Working all by myself, sometimes showing my progress to friends and family, but no one really cares. I could really use someones input, no matter what kind, just need someone to tell me it's good or it sucks. No one cares. So I just keep going, money is running out, new bugs keep showing up, I patch them. Hopefully when I release it will get traction because I honestly don't want to rejoin the work force.
I'm sorry, but some of my github activity is best be kept private.
I'm working on $1/month social network. Been working on it since December, MVP is about 80% complete now.

I suck at CSS but I'm the only one working on my project, so I have no choice but to get good at it. I know I was writing bad CSS, so what I did was google videos recorded at conferences where they talked about refactoring CSS. Refactoring CSS is not exactly basics, but it helps you understand potential problems that arise from writing bad CSS so you know how to deal with it in the future or prevent the issues in the first place.

I've done some research and I'm concerned about possible patent troll coming after me, I don't have any money right now to defend against this possibility.
Well, actually it's more like there are not that many average people. Let me explain...
When you hear that an average family earns $50k/year, what (I think) is really happening is that many earn under $25k and few earn over 100k.
I think same thing applies to individual people.
I used to work as CNC machinist, and most of my coworkers were either really good or ok enough to not get fired.
I as a developer now feel I'm below average, and I've met many like myself. Then there are really good devs out there I get inspired by.
Just my 2c.
Can you mine with them maybe?
