They're kinda similar, indeed.

But Vista has some differences in color and details that make it more beautiful IMHO.

I love this kind of projects!

We are still missing a Vista.css: the most beautiful Windows ever made.

Re:Ubuntu 20.04 LTS’ snap obsession has snapped me off of it on Saturday September 05, 2020 @09:57AM (#24383561)
What's the best Ubuntu alternative out there?

I dislike Snap, but I like the stable / out-of-the-box nature of Ubuntu.

I don't like distros where I take a week to setup it the way I like.

Re:Show HN: Task v3.0.0 Is Released on Sunday August 16, 2020 @09:36PM (#24182994)
Hi everybody, author here!

Task is a build tool / task runner that can be used to automate stuff, like code generation and all kind of development tasks.

You can think of it as an alternative to Make (Makefile).

The offical website / documentation is here: https://taskfile.dev/

I'm a happy user of Firefox Preview for a while not, and I just want to say to all developers: THANK YOU!

It's pretty stable in my experience, and in fact much faster than the main version.

Is it even possible to use Android without a Google account?

I hope this works.

On Samsung devices, we have to use hacks like using Package Disabler Pro to disable stuff:

My phone is considerably faster and and battery life is much better after using this. No to mention this probably also closes some provacy holes.

Motorola, on the other hand, does a great job by using mostly vanilla Android with just a few really useful modifications.

A common issue here in Brazil, unfortunately. It's often worth it breaking the law because the fines are often small, specially for huge companies like Facebook.
Twitter now supports OTP 2fa as well.
- Don't apply to 50+ companies at one go thinking only a % of them will call you. Choose ~5 companies, do a lot of homework about their business & write to key people at these places telling in ONE paragraph what you can do for their business. If it fails, choose next ~5 and so on.

This is one of the best advices for people starting their careers. This comment should be at the top of this thread!

EDIT: Formatting

I'm really interested in an answer for this question, since WhatsApp is the only Facebook app I have installed/keep an account.

Unfortunately, everyone uses WhatsApp in Brazil, and very few people uses Telegram, for example. This makes it kinda impossible to be Facebook-free here.

Yep

That, and it's also almost impossible to run Windows 8 or 10 with a HDD drive, even for basic stuff like internet browsing, etc.

SSD is basically required now.

Sad, because Linux is still pretty fast with HDD for basic usage.

I created something that tries to improve some aspects of Make. In particular it allows setting multiple outputs and use checksum instead of timestamp for build caching.

Don't expect a perfect tool, though. This started as a toy project, but evolved with time.
