The climate effect argument against AI is so intellectually dishonest. It’s the same as saying that Tao is on the side of stopping the advancement of Cancer research.

I thought the people clowning him were dumb, but the people arguing for either side are really fighting on a mud pit.

One step closer to Le Chaton Fat.

Soon they’ll just sell you markdown.

Doesn’t Gemini or whatever Meta’s agent is do this too?

Re:Xbox goes down. You can't play games you own on disc on Tuesday August 04, 2026 @01:27PM (#49172033)
I am so glad i jumped out of the Xbox ecosystem back when I did.

I was such a loyal fan, but the Xbox One made me go from an avid gamer to a casual gamer.

I thought I was done with gaming until I picked up a Nintendo Switch back in 2018 and I rediscovered the joy.

I gave Xbox one more chance with the Series X and that was the final nail in the coffin.

I only play on Switch 2 and Steam OS nowadays.

Re:Ask HN: Add flag for AI-generated articles on Monday July 13, 2026 @01:49AM (#48888404)
Only care that an article is informative, grounded in facts, unbiased, etc. How it was composed doesn’t matter to me.
Not sure if the Cloudflare CEO is lying, but I have a pixel deployed on tens of thousands of sites offering B2B solutions, and bot traffic overtook human traffic this year.
Microsoft cancelled Claude because they need to dog food Copilot since it sucks. This was acknowledged internally and it’s not a secret.

It is probably more expensive for Microsoft now since the Anthropic tokens were subsidized.

These are great points and I was truly unaware of these concerns.
Private cameras make the bulk of your stat and they do help in deter crime on personal property.

What is the crime volume if these cameras are gone?

Tell me the area. And, we can break down the factors.
I am bringing up a City I’ve lived in, problems I’ve endured, and solutions I’ve seen work.

By my parents house in Vallejo there is one of these cameras near a 7/11. They can finally walk there.

Quite the contrary. I care about the OS and that’s why I switched to Linux gaming. The experience wrapping the game is just so much better.
Re:Claude.ai down on Monday April 13, 2026 @11:55AM (#47753924)
Most of their customers only use the CLI or API.

I use Anthropic for 90% of my GenAI needs, software development, but I have never used Claude.ai for anything other than auth.

That sounds so gross. Why do British people tolerate that? It’s as if British people belong to their government.
Re:WebMCP Proposal on Monday February 16, 2026 @07:12PM (#47042054)
But think about it. Will you do it for your web property? Is someone else going to do it for my web property when I have clearly blocked robots? Will I do it for another web property for my agent to work and hope they don’t update their design or protect themselves against it?
Re:WebMCP Proposal on Monday February 16, 2026 @04:25PM (#47040536)
Most teams that want their data to be operated programmatically expose an API. For who does this solve a problem?

That email bug is the worst.
Re:The struggle of resizing windows on macOS Tahoe on Sunday January 11, 2026 @05:17PM (#46580914)
I have been using Rectangle and Spectacle before it. Wanting to resize windows like in this article isn't natural to me anymore.

AYYYYLMAO

Good callout. However, nothing says Nvidia would adopt this margin tactic either.
We already pay a 100% premium on AWS.
Re:AI's Dial-Up Era on Monday November 03, 2025 @06:55PM (#45805949)
Because someone else will sell it to you if they dont.
> I was hoping to see a comment like this. These sorts of “global collaborations” seem to always end with the US carry all the water, and the goal from the other countries perspective is to throttle the US. Like the Paris Accords.

I agree 100%.

I don't see the benefits here.

Re:BYD Builds World's Fastest Car on Saturday October 11, 2025 @04:50PM (#45552569)
The profitability in the auto market space isn’t there for Apple.
Re:BYD Builds World's Fastest Car on Monday October 06, 2025 @01:34PM (#45493846)
Not at all why Apple gave up on the EV, it was profitability. They even gave up on building AI cloud infra because it was cheaper to rent. Finance can veto Tim Cook there.
Re:Dev Culture Is Dying the Curious Developer Is Gone on Friday September 19, 2025 @01:24PM (#45304170)
Ugh. Just build man, stop with the excuses.

I’ve been there, looking for pennies in the couch to be able to afford a burger while I waited for my next contract gig deposit. Even if your project doesn’t become the next big thing, you’ll end up with something to show in your resume. That will open tons of doors.

Re:Dev Culture Is Dying the Curious Developer Is Gone on Friday September 19, 2025 @12:34PM (#45303578)
I keep hearing this complaint so much. I feel we are living in different realities. Fix your algorithm.

Omarchy Bitchat Ghostty Crush

None of those are chasing metrics. And that’s just off the top of my head.

Ask HN: Is standardizing on MCPs over APIs within an org an anti-pattern?

I work at a public company with strong datasets and a successful product built on top of this data. There’s currently a push to standardize all of our APIs behind MCPs before wiring them into our Agent platform. To me, this feels like unnecessary overhead. We already have a robust API gateway with well-defined conventions. Agents or tools can integrate directly with our APIs without needing the...

Re:AI coding made me faster, but I can't code to music anymore on Wednesday August 27, 2025 @02:37AM (#45036137)
I’d probably drop GenAI before I dropped the music that allows me to focus. Also, at this stage of my career, I mainly code for fun, and blasting music across the house is part of it.
