This common among Dutch culture.
I just purchased a hetzner storage box and used claude to configure kopia to backup to it.

I then tested restore vis kopia desktop onto my desktop to validate restore works.

13 eur for 5tb is more than enough for immich backups for my personal use.

I personally do not find it fine that The Netherlands exceeds the EU minimum floor (€0.359/L) by 135% and your Germany by 80%.

We have excise, stockpile levy and vat coming up to 47% of the almost 2.8 eur pump price

I have successfully used this about 2 years ago from a Synology to perform a one-time backup (download) of about 380GB of photos and videos from my iCloud account - https://github.com/icloud-photos-downloader/icloud_photos_do...
Surprised that https://github.com/fccview/jotty (ex rwMarkable) has not been mentioned.

I recently learned that with smart traffic lights cyclists can change traffic lights -https://nltimes.nl/2026/04/28/new-app-turns-traffic-lights-g...
This isn't just a USA thing, the EU Commission literally just updated residue limits for it in July 2025 [1] and interestingly Corteva Agriscience which is the company selling it, supplies the safety data EFSA uses to keep it on our plates. [2]

Re:In Europe, Wind and Solar Overtake Fossil Fuels on Thursday January 22, 2026 @10:53AM (#46720924)
Europe (Groningen, NL) with the largest natural gas field in Europe and one of the largest in the world have has shifted from relying on Russian pipeline gas to depending heavily on American liquefied natural gas (LNG). In Q2 2025, the United States supplied 57% of Europe's LNG. When considering all EU gas imports from non-European suppliers (excluding Norway and the UK), the US accounted for roughly 45%. In the first 11 months of 2025, US LNG shipments to the EU increased by 55% year-on-year. Industry forecasts suggest the US share could reach 70% by 2029.

It has that. Select the media you want to delete, tap & hold, then scroll to the right in the menu and select Delete from device. At least on Android this is the way.

Jellyfin, Jellyserr on a QNAP TS-464 runs perfectly well for serving even 4k x265.

So could I in practice train it on all my psychology books, materials, reports, case study and research papers and then run it on demand on a 1xH100 node - https://getdeploying.com/reference/cloud-gpu/nvidia-h100 whenever I have a specialised question?

Pets remove plastic and instead poison ourselves.

A 2023 Belgian study[0] tested 39 brands of straws (paper, bamboo, glass, stainless steel, and plastic):

Paper and bamboo straws most frequently contained PFAS, sometimes at high levels.

Plastic straws also contained PFAS, but less consistently.

Stainless steel straws were PFAS-free in that study.

Re:Kagi should reach 50 000 users in about 10 days on Saturday May 31, 2025 @05:21PM (#44146995)
I have tried Kagi for a month and it has been good. Clean results and on point for my basic searches compared to Google. Though not much different than when using my selfhosted searxng...

I am now trying to decide if I want it for the standard AI models or if I can continue scraping by the available free (restricted) offerings from various providers. There is a difference in the quality of responses between Chatgpt and when using Kagi. I guess that's what you get when using an agent...

Leaving a negative review is not outright illegal, but it can lead to legal consequences if deemed defamatory or false. If a review contains unsubstantiated claims or personal attacks, the business can pursue legal action for defamation.

The nuances of these laws can vary, so context matters significantly in legal interpretations.

Come if you want - 56% income tax - housing shortage which is leading to landlords charging 1.5k eur for just a room - ever increase in public transport (train) unreliability and degrading conditions (shorter carriages during peak times) - increasing health insurance costs with fewer benefits - diversity, inclusion and acceptance by the community - directness (although it's a fine line between being direct and rude so YMMV) - poldermodel (things may take a few iterations to get done)
A while back this was posted on HN - https://github.com/docmost/docmost/
>"Additionally, the study was conducted at a single center in China, which may limit generalizability to other populations. The researchers also acknowledged that factors such as reinfection risk, vaccination status, and behavioral differences (e.g., medication adherence) could not be fully accounted for."

With no mention if the subjects were smokers, had diabetes, overweight or sedentary lifestyles seems to me like a wholelotta nothing burger.

Similar situation whereas instead of swapping cloud for cloud I purchased a QNAP which can run containers and have setup immich & caddy on that.

WAF is good and even grandparents are able to use the immich app to view photos.

After 17 years since joining EU and 14 years since Romania met all the technical accession they were all able to join.

Since 2011 Romania was blocked by The Netherlands and Austria from joining. When one country didn't contest, the other did, and so here we are 14 years later.

And what if the government does eventually get its hands on aliens and their flying saucers? “It’s not their job [to keep it secret],” he says. “It would immediately get turned over to Nasa, and Nasa would immediately disclose it to everybody. That’s their job.”

Oh OK, NASA will disclose it like they did with the footage of a UFO entering earth(1)?

Are you that engineer that fixed that AS400? Back in the early 2010s, there were like 5 people across, the whole UK who could work on those mainframes.

>I tried to join Google in that era, unsuccessfully. (I got surprised by a weird whiteboard interview, with an interviewer who seemed to implicitly assume they were better than me, and came off as dismissive.)

>In hindsight, I wonder whether I would've 100% liked a company driven by software engineers (other than the apparent aspect of recent grads with senior-sized egos).

The same thing happened to me and left feeling the same in the early 2010s.

(Great experience however and any interview after that was a walk in the park)
