AFAIK, it's solar powered and not wind powered.
Re:Computer Spacegames (1982) [pdf] on Thursday April 02, 2020 @11:33AM (#22760127)
This looks super familiar, I think I used the french edition back in '83!

Thanks for sharing, brings back lots of good memories!

Just saw one today at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View. Kind of wish it was up and running though ...

Holy molly! Yes please!
Re:Ask HN: Is anyone working on AGI on a promising idea? on Wednesday December 19, 2018 @07:41PM (#18721484)
Sounds like we are on the same path ;-)
Re:Ask HN: Is anyone working on AGI on a promising idea? on Wednesday December 19, 2018 @05:45PM (#18720592)
Been working on something proposed by Manuel Blum (Conscious Turing Machines):

https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=18577675

It's only a part of a possible AGI system ...

Anything that is too niche is bound to be a "barren run", at least for a while ...
Re:Deprecation of OpenGL and OpenCL on Monday June 04, 2018 @05:43PM (#17232829)
Great ... just when I was going to use openCL .. :(
I have (the now older) XPS 13 with Ubuntu 18.04 and it's awesome. The infamous coil whines were a bit of a bummer but since upgrading (from 17.10) to 18.04, I haven't heard it again ...
Re:Fizz – experimental language and runtime environment on Thursday May 31, 2018 @03:13PM (#17199166)
Well, the naming was supposed to evoke "a cocktail" and "things bubbling up" as that's part of the concept. You are not the only one to have given me some sort of grievance about it :-|
Re:Fizz – experimental language and runtime environment on Thursday May 31, 2018 @03:10PM (#17199137)
I wasn't offended and it is a valid question :) And yes, I'm definitely into 80s stuff and GOFAI.

I do plan to have some GPU support (probably by supporting existing ML framework) at some point (sooner if there's demand for it). I also like to explore logical inferences on GPU (but I haven't given it much thought yet).

Thanks. Can't take credit for it as it's heavily inspired by http://musicforprogramming.net/

hey (author here), so the code isn't available as I haven't decided to open source it or not yet. You are correct to point out that it's a LOT slower than more traditional Prolog due, in part, to a different architecture.
I'll think it depends on your end goal. Do you want to explore new network architectures and/or associated functions, or use (your own or public) data set to explore possible applications?
Re:Pig brains kept alive outside bodies for first time on Saturday April 28, 2018 @09:31PM (#16950321)
This is really disturbing :(
Logic programming is part of what people now call GOFAI (Good Old Fashion AI). I think it still has a place in building intelligent systems, but these days most people equate AI to Machine Learning, unfortunately ...
Alright, so I applied the other day. Just one comment on the process the size limits on the answers are way too small.
Good to know, thanks!
I would apply but I'm not sure how that will be considered as I'm on a work visa :(
Re:Lego TRON: Legacy revealed on Thursday March 22, 2018 @01:49PM (#16650904)
About time ... Now, if they could only do sets with some of the vehicles from the movie.
The mix of logical and imperative programming is nice. That's probably what I should have done for fizz :(

Great, glad to read that 8)
Re:Launch HN: Slite (YC W18) – Note App for Teams on Tuesday February 27, 2018 @04:49PM (#16478289)
This is nice. A little hesitant to migrate to something that may not be around in a few months ... Not to be the voice of doom, but it's a legitimate concern IMHO (this isn't the first note web app) ...
Re:HiFive – RISC-V-based Linux development board on Saturday February 03, 2018 @01:03PM (#16298651)
Same here. Kinda bummed, I was looking forward to it :(
Re:Dell XPS13 Laptop – Cool Tools on Wednesday December 27, 2017 @12:25PM (#16016283)
I got one a few weeks ago and it's great. I love the form factor and it packs some good punch and works great on Ubuntu (17.10). However, the infamous and almost constant "coil whine" is a bummer :-|
Love the Sun workstation on Enrique Medina's desk 8)
