Re:Detection of mRNA COVID-19 Vaccines in Human Breast Milk on Tuesday September 27, 2022 @05:37PM (#33001450)
Some details on this Twitter thread: https://twitter.com/VikiLovesFACS/status/1574663804801388547

To me, the concerns this raises have less to do with breastfeeding infants and more to do with biodistribution of the mRNA after vaccination -- in theory it's not "supposed" to be found anywhere other than the muscle tissue around the injection site.

Seems likely that this is a typo which should have said 2021.

It's surprising because at the time the mRNA vaccines were recommended to pregnant women (with next to zero testing), health authorities issued extensive assurances that the mRNA would remain localized to the injection site. Reuters even ran a fact-check article about it: https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/...

U.S. Undersecretary of State Victoria Nuland: "If Russia invades Ukraine, one way or another, Nord Stream 2 will not move forward." https://twitter.com/StateDept/status/1486818088016355336

It's certainly a conspiracy in the sense that the USA and its functionaries are not going to be coming out and directly saying "sure, we blew up Nordstream to remove a Russian bargaining chip and prevent Germany from suing for peace."
Re:Sterling collapses as investors fly into dollars on Monday September 26, 2022 @03:49AM (#32980539)
The headline was changed from the original, not an uncommon practice by Reuters.
"We have to protect all the people who were involved in the accident and coverup, some of whom may now hold important positions of power." I mean, they are still using "national security" as an excuse not to declassify JFK files nearly 60 years after the fact.
Eh, I'd say the vast majority of people find it much more comforting to embrace the "mere banality of fate" explanation than to even entertain the idea that an errant missile test could be covered up by putting intelligence agencies in charge of the investigation -- let alone that it actually was.
Re:Did a famous doctor’s Covid shot make his cancer worse? on Sunday September 25, 2022 @11:10AM (#32972060)
The cognitive dissonance around this subject on HN is off the charts. When the vaccines or Paxlovid were announced it was an occasion for hugely upvoted multi-hundred comment "rah rah Science!" threads. But an article about experts who were involved in the initial emergency authorizations of the vaccines criticizing the rollout of the new bivalent boosters gets flagged: https://www.ft.com/content/92d52780-14c8-49a0-937b-a77223632...
I'm assuming those sorts of lasers can't generally be afforded or obtained for the sorts of, uh, "assymetric" uses I have in mind.
Pretty cool ... Could we also "neutralize and deter," say, surveillance drones with a similar method?
Imperfect since it's focused on ag land, but the LAND ETF is one possible real-time proxy for land values, which shows them having hit a bubble peak earlier this year and then crashed back down to earth. That latest move may not yet have made its way into listings like the one you're looking at but I would think it might. Longer term, feels like everything is a crapshoot guess at whether the Fed undershoots (and inflation takes back off) or overshoots (and crashes asset prices).
