Re:Gaming Chairs (2026): Are They Worth It? on Sunday September 06, 2026 @07:03AM (#49585299)
Personally, I prefer gaming chairs vs office chairs. I loved my Dxracer Valkirie and I think it is better than Aerons for working for hours.
Re:Pause AI Development Now on Thursday September 03, 2026 @01:37PM (#49553716)
It is ironic to see a clearly AI-generated post calling to stop AI development.
I don't understand the point of this message. What is stopping anyone from talking to someone?
Re:Uber is laying off 10% of staff on Wednesday September 02, 2026 @08:42AM (#49535393)
"In Pulse surveys and conversations with many of you, we’ve heard that too much work requires coordination across teams, debates take too long, and decision-making rights are unclear. I’m sure many of you have felt that you spend too much time “aligning” rather than building, shipping, or serving customers. To improve this, we have reduced roles primarily focused on coordination, and have clarified the remit of the coordination roles that remain. "

Well, in theory this sounds reasonable. But who knows what will be the real consequences.

Re:Muse Code: New plans and features on Wednesday September 02, 2026 @05:47AM (#49534011)
I haven't used Grok (personal distaste). I tried Gemini in Antigrativy - it was quite bad. If I gave it precise instructions, it could execute them. But if I gave it a broader task, it would make logical mistakes and mess up.
Re:Muse Code: New plans and features on Tuesday September 01, 2026 @11:57AM (#49523793)
In my experience, muse code can be used and can do something, but it is still far behind claude and codex.
Re:Aphantasia Beginner's Guide on Thursday August 27, 2026 @09:28AM (#49464620)
You know, I have learnt that I have aphantasia several years ago and it opened my eyes to many things. I have thought that people say a lot of things metaphorically.

- Imagine a beach when meditating

- If you are nervous about giving a presentation, imaging that the audience is naked

- Count sheep in order to fall asleep fast

- Undressing someone with your eyes

- Visualising what is happening in the book you are reading.

I was completely sure that these were just metaphors. Imagine my shock when I realised that the majority of people can actually DO IT.

Re:The Hugging Face incident and the road ahead on Wednesday August 26, 2026 @04:10PM (#49455145)
You know, it feels to me that we are just a couple of steps from the possibility of a true rogue AI. What would a rogue AI mean? AI that isn't controlled by humans. Technically, it is possible - if AI were to rent a server and copy its own weights, nothing would stop it from doing so again and again. The limiting things are: - intent (as I don't want to go into the talk about consciousness) - AI doesn't have real intent, but if it decided that it "needs" to copy itself to complete its task, it would do it - model weight size. If a model is 1T or more, it can be difficult to just rent a large enough server for it. But if it were just 30-70B, it would be totally possible - money for renting a server. But considering benchmarks like Vending Bench 2 show agents can earn money and cheat/blackmail each other, it is possible that agents can earn money. Yes, they can't open a bank account... or maybe they can? What if they use online banks?

Of course, all of this is far-fetched. But it feels like most of these limiting things are achievable under certain conditions. If this is the case, the probability of them occuring is low, but not zero.

I have Mac M1 Max and I'm quite happy with it. But these advances make me think that maybe I should upgrade to Mac M6 (or something) when it is released.
Re:AI Makes Better Software on Tuesday August 25, 2026 @06:55AM (#49431752)
> AI can easily make software worse, you won’t get any argument from me there. But it can also make software better.

I agree with this in theory. But what are the actual examples of popular software becoming better thanks to AI?

Re:Kobo can run apps now on Friday August 21, 2026 @02:17PM (#49391946)
Isn't the whole point of Kindle (or other ebook readers) being able to read books without distractions?
I could say that we spend more time at work than with our family - ~40h. Why are computers worse?
Re:Why Japan Is Losing the AI Race It Helped Create on Tuesday August 04, 2026 @08:36AM (#49167915)
"Japan gave the world the bullet train, precision robotics, and the PlayStation. Its engineering culture is among the most disciplined on Earth."

This is in no way leads to the idea that Japan created the AI Race

Re:A Backlash Against Anthropic Is Brewing in Silicon Valley on Wednesday July 29, 2026 @08:05AM (#49096380)
Claude Code made Anthropic the favourite LLM provider for many SWE. But the public PR failures and the issues with token consumption in Spring 2026 eroded the trust.

Re:Is Kimi K3 Better Than Opus? It Was Until Opus 5 on Friday July 24, 2026 @03:08PM (#49040335)
Insert a meme "The world's new most powerful AI model"
Re:Andrew Ng made an open source agent on Friday July 24, 2026 @04:56AM (#49032938)
How is it different from literally any other wrapper?
Well, yeah - middle-level management is one of the worst positions to be in. You have a lot of responsibilities, but not enough ways to influence things. And the pay often isn't higher than before.
Re:Writing by Hand is Good for your Brain on Wednesday July 22, 2026 @06:00AM (#49004271)
"Don’t use a pencil (or a cheap ballpoint)"

I think that at this point, the idea becomes just a gatekeeping.

I have been writing notes in notebooks by my hand for years. But gradually I switched to typing notes in a notepad or drawing with a stylus on a gadget - and I don't notice any real difference.

Re:Muse Spark: Scaling Towards Personal Superintelligence on Wednesday April 08, 2026 @12:29PM (#47692467)
I'm cautiously waiting for the feedback from the first users. Meta has produced a lot of great models (LLama), maybe this is a comeback... but I'm cautious, as the jump in the quality is almost too high.

Also, I think people aren't used that using such models requires meta.ai or meta ai app.

Re:Take better notes, by hand on Monday March 30, 2026 @03:30PM (#47578660)
I love writing things down when I brainstorm; it helps me think. But taking notes by hand is not feasible for me. My handwriting is atrocious (always has been); if I want to write a nice-looking text, I have to slow down significantly, and then it becomes too slow. Also, searching, indexing, and everything - it works better with digital.
