A modern classic, thanks to Bob Zemeckis; without whom it would've been right up there with the Bricklin SV-1.

Setting aside JohnZ's personal failings, the car and its production was a catastrophe.

Part of that was a NHTSA rule that hilariously (from 79-82) made 85mph speedometers mandatory; but even later, because of tooling costs, those dials persisted.

Not that the DMC-1's PRV v6 and tall Renault 5-speed were gonna make getting to 85 easy...
