Ask HN: Any good polished email alternative to Proton Mail?

I was in and out of the Proton ecosystem a couple of times, as a Visionary user. Ignoring the CEO politics and just looking at the product, I like how it is all clean and polished. But apart from Proton Mail and Proton Pass (which I do use), the rest just feels half baked. I would love an alternative that has a native email app, isn't toooo expensive, maybe has a family plan, and encryption is nice, but not needed. Anyone use anything like that? Oh, and using my own domain is nice as well. (popular alternative is Tuta, but I wouldn't consider that "polished"). What's everyone using?

FastMail. No encryption, but just works. I will pay for it for the rest of my life, so long as they don't ruin it.

Fastmail has a polished UI and a great search unlike Proton. WebDAV storage is another great bonus.
