Ask HN: When is someone's power too much?

Today Elon Musk called Poland's foreign minister "small man" [1] over Starlink's use in Ukraine. America's new administration seems to systematically break any limit, but it is still an administration. Instead, Musk spoke as an individual, and the way he behaves and gets away with it gives us food for thought to discuss the "decency" of power. Is it normal that individuals have enough power to threat whole countries or treat diplomats like we see them do? Should humanity react to this concentration of power, and how? At what point should humanity put a limit to the power an individual can wield? And are we already (irreversibly) past that limit? Dare I say “your kind of thinking is the problem.”

I’m not supporting musk here, it’s a matter of jumbling so many ideas together regarding a man’s freedom of expression.

LAW is that limit. In an ideal world a person can do whatever the f she wants as long as it doesn’t actually violate the embodied right of some other, and “law” is the only f-ing thing in the entire world of humans which allows one to interfere with another’s “power.”

Read some Ayn Rand or something (on dynamics of personal power.)
