Hot take: the problem is democracy, not technology. At some point we'll have to face up to that reality. Distributing political power equally across the bell curve is a threat to the future of civilized society, because the less-intelligent people are easier for bad actors to herd. We have to find a way to stop permitting that.

In the meantime, fixating on the tools used by the bad actors is pointless.
